aiham··on Dissection of COVIDSafe (Android): Australian government's contact tracing app
15 minutes was part of the definition for a casual contact 2 months ago, a lot earlier than the app and the social distancing rules.

aiham··on A List of Chrome DevTools Tips and Tricks
That happens to be how common browsers have implemented it but the spec does not guarantee it:

> Let handle be a user-agent-defined integer that is greater than zero that will identify the timeout to be set by this call in the list of active timers.

Edit: Just noticed your edit.

aiham··on Watch 3 concurrent streams of the Curiosity landing with HN/Reddit Chat
Looks like Reddit found it and they probably brought it down.
aiham··on Watch 3 concurrent streams of the Curiosity landing with HN/Reddit Chat
I'm getting a blank screen. I get redirected to http://teevox.com/#!/c=streams&ch=24&s0=999999&s... and receive a 200 OK response but no response data. Using Chrome Version 21.0.1180.57 on Mac OS X 10.7.4

They state at the bottom of the post:

"P.S. We're still deciding on the buttons. For now, we've stuck with the colored circles as placeholders. But don't fret, we won't leave out colorblind gamers. :)"

aiham··on How I converted a software thief into a customer
It asks the user for a registration code. It obviously needs to communicate with a server to verify the code. When someone enters an invalid code, it will clearly be logged and the OP notified. It is not doing anything like "phone home" in secret (From what I can tell after reading the article).
aiham··on ShowHN: We built this so you can send a mixtape to someone you like
Not sure where else to report issues. I was able to search for songs, add them to a mixtape and share it via email. I wasn't able to play any songs though. After pressing play, it would send a request to the youtube API and receive a successful response (200 OK), but just sit there and not play anything. Each time I press next, the same thing would happen - a successful request then nothing.

Instructions say to register then email with a short bio and HN name. I had to fill in both of those during registration. Do you still need the email?

aiham··on "Breaking Bad" and its Philosophical Context - Part 1
It's often for more page views and advertisement impressions.

Edit: Maybe not in this case, but the news websites that do surely do it for the extra impressions.

aiham··on How BigIntegers work in JavaScript
That way digits[0] will be the least significant digit for any given BigInteger, and digits[1] will always be the second, and so on.

Rather than digits[2] for -123's least significant digit, and digits[1] for, say, 43's least significant digit.

aiham··on Immigrant entrepreneur arrested to meet quotas
I was referring to residence, being able to live and work legally. Although I don't have any sources, I've heard of a few people who have become citizens. I don't believe it's impossible, just very difficult. Permanent residence on the other hand isn't rare at all.
aiham··on Immigrant entrepreneur arrested to meet quotas
You might want to look into the immigration procedure here in Japan first. The people are great; almost all that I've met are fine with foreigners. But not so much the government and companies. You need a fair amount of patience to make it here (especially in the work place), unless you already have a contact. Good luck.

This explains a lot. What I don't understand though, is why this guy, who doesn't understand basic regular expressions (the expression is also wrong), is working on the American Express website.
