Flutter apps on iOS feel way off
alexandr1us··on Ask HN: How do I train a custom LLM/ChatGPT on my own documents?
You can upload PDFs to ChatGPT with Code Interpreter plugin enabled.
alexandr1us··on Write in JavaScript, Render in Flutter
The value you get is using JS instead of that abomination called Dart

Call me crazy but I am pretty sure this comment is written by paid lobbyists
alexandr1us··on Gimp 2.10.28
I used Gimp daily. I even liked it’s UX better than photoshop. Switched to Affinity Photo when they had macOS build problems :/
alexandr1us··on Transition to React Native
I used to use Unity for apps since it made perfect sense for simple game like apps
alexandr1us··on Transition to React Native
Titanium was worse
alexandr1us··on Transition to React Native
I want to write small review regarding replies on this link. I am working as an mobile engineer for more than 8 years now. I have worked on native iOS, Android, Xamarin, Unity, Titanium, Flutter and React Native. Long story short I have never been happier since I switched to React Native and Expo made everything so much better. I am not comparing it to native but I can compare it to Flutter.

First of all Flutter has major performance problems on iOS. Using native views (MapBox, ArcGIS) inside Flutter app has subpar performance. Flutter has weird styling compared to anything I have ever worked with. Styling in Flutter is very unintuitive (ex: Global theme for button width). You can’t OTA update Flutter code. Weird scroll behaviour. I can go on and on but personally I would never use Flutter ever

Most comments under the link:

React Native bad because Flutter good.

React Native bad because native good.

React Native bad because Y is good.

alexandr1us··on Show HN: The simplest React state manager now at stable release

alexandr1us··on Moderna's Covid vaccine shows nearly 95% protection
HN can hate me for this but I'm not taking novel not properly tested mRNA vaccine at least for another 5 years. If I remember correctly moderna's initial test vaccines caused serious liver damage in guinea pigs. If there will be classic vaccine I'm taking it
alexandr1us··on Using Matrix to replace proprietary and centralized chat apps
My company uses Matrix for internal collaboration. We use Element. It is quite good. Element is quite buggy tho.

I still don't get what is the maximum storage we can use, is it unlimited?

alexandr1us··on Graphical User Interface Using Flutter in Embedded Systems [pdf]
100% my experience. Everything feels backwards. Dart is huge turn off, there are too many widgets, non native views, horrible native view support. Flutter devs brag about how fast their apps are but honestly I have yet to find Flutter app which isn't sluggish
alexandr1us··on YouTube bans coronavirus vaccine misinformation
So happy to see that most HN users aren't pro censorship CCP bullshit. Thank you for your existence you are good people
alexandr1us··on Reddit’s About page doesn't include Aaron Swartz as a founder
Reddit went full commie since about 3 years. It became super annoying to get hundreds of down votes because you are not a leftist bot
alexandr1us··on Covid-19 Vaccine Protocols Reveal That Trials Are Designed to Succeed
Because Moderna covid-19 is a new type mRNS vaccine. God knows what harm can it do to people's DNA.
