altmanaltman··on Nvidia Board of Directors Is Investigating Jensen Huang
You just don't hear it as often because there are far fewer females in such positions. But they try to go for all tiers of power and use honeypots of both sexes. It's well documented if you do a basic google search, look up Romeo Project, KGB swallows and ravens concept. Male honeypotters are under-representation in mainstream culture due to the sexist notion that only men can be seduced by sex and women somehow do not.
altmanaltman··on Upload Your RAM
Hynix is charged with carrying out the conspiracy by:

  * Participating in meetings, conversations, and communications in the United States and elsewhere to discuss the prices of DRAM to be sold to certain customers;

  * Agreeing, during those meetings, conversations, and communications, to charge prices of DRAM at certain levels to be sold to certain customers;

  * Issuing price quotations in accordance with the agreements reached; and

  * Exchanging information on sales of DRAM to certain customers, for the purpose of monitoring and enforcing adherence to the agreed-upon prices.

  * Under the plea agreement which must be approved by the court, Hynix has agreed to cooperate with the government in its ongoing investigation of other DRAM producers.
KOREAN COMPANY--HYNIX--AGREES TO PLEAD GUILTY TO PRICE FIXING AND AGREES TO PAY $185 MILLION FINE FOR ROLE IN DRAM CONSPIRACY

This is remarkably different than someone claiming donuts are spaceships when the company itself was charged and pleaded guilty, and it's a matter of public record.

altmanaltman··on Anthropic IPO buyers see valuation as low as $1.1T
> Let's say I use the $200/month Claude (I don't, I use a cheaper plan, but stay with me). If I switch to a Opus 4.5 equivalent local LLM, and it makes even a single production issue that 5.5 wouldn't, that mistake will cost thousands of dollars.

What are you talking about, you're fully dependent on an LLM (Opus or whatever) not making a mistake or else you lose thousands of dollars, in production? How is that okayed?

altmanaltman··on Conductor is joining Meta
Nobody's wrong or right. It's just comparing apples to bananas.
altmanaltman··on Conductor is joining Meta
I mean okay but you're looking at two very different things. At your description, it makes no sense to acquire your business. But Conductor is not building for a niche audience and is a radically different beast. Even before this acquisition they raised over 20 mil. You're using very naive thinking when you're talking about value here, its not as simple as why buy a company when someone can vibecode it. This is particularly funny because its usually AI labs that are following through with some of the biggest buys lately.
altmanaltman··on Jelly Sheet
i don't know, i vibe code a lot but could never come up with that. To me, it is pretty much human creativity.

altmanaltman··on OccupySaaS
Wouldn't the milestone keep moving since Adobe will also introduce new features? What if the way you moved and the way Adobe does make 100% feature parity incompatible? Like when you say 100% parity, you mean a frozen-in-time feature set or always be 100% of what Photoshop does?
altmanaltman··on Anthropic takes steps to block Claude from reverse-engineering video games
> Who decides what gets to be reverse engineered and what doesn't?

The service provider decides the terms and conditions, as long as they comply with the law. For example, Google decides whether pirated movies can be hosted on its cloud service, because it provides the cloud service. It's pretty clear.

In a pure capitalist system, competitors would emerge if the repressed service were genuinely in high demand and lawful. If it was not, then well, that's just how we regulate the world but this cannot be considered a case of one industry deciding the fate of another.

altmanaltman··on Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance
USDT is created by a super shady company and is not at all decentralized or censorship-free. You could have made the argument for Bitcoin (and still can to a certain level) but most cryptos that propped up after that or stablecoins do not follow the hacker philosophy and more the banker one. Ironic that the whole crypto movement got co-opted by the likes of JPM which it seeked to replace.

Because radio is not the ancestor of video games. Even if you wanted to make the case, it will be painting -> photography -> silent movies... not radio. You can't bunch two different disciplines as related to each other like this even if both of them are art forms.

We still have podcasts but you think radio led to video games?

They should put AI in a car so it can drive itself or create robots that use world models...
altmanaltman··on Is my data used for model training?
There are companies with far more people than Anthropic that still stay coordinated. This is no excuse. Especially with customer data.

altmanaltman··on The Mythical Man-Month in the Age of AI
I always thought it meant 9 women would take 9 months to create 9 babies because a baby takes 9 months to grow with the bottleneck being biology. And yes what you said applies to people but I don't get the whole "throw 9 agents into it" when it is possible to just see it as 1 agent doing 9 things? With people, yes everyone has a distinct way of doing things etc but all agents can be homogenious fully and completely sync up without any overload theoritically no?
altmanaltman··on The Mythical Man-Month in the Age of AI
> nine agents still can’t deliver a baby in one month.

Very weird way to say this. Like it holds true for biological beings because pregnancy by default has a fixed timeline. But how does this apply to AI? Also what even is an "agent"? Are they distinct worker units on a program or the same worker unit split into multiple instances?

Why are we assuming agent = man when its a computer program?

altmanaltman··on Removing Next.js Got My Blog to 100 on Every Lighthouse Category
It's pretty easy to get 100 on every lighthouse category even while using next. The scoring is based on how fast a page loads and what blocks its loading time. If you develop it with a bit of care, that is a non-issue. My funny agency website (https://www.pixlw.com/) is purely nextjs and it scores a 100 on Lighthouse as well because I kept working on it till it didn't.
altmanaltman··on The Rise and Fall of Jev
They literally raised $870 million this month. It's like people think the hype cycle = success of business for some reason. I'm sure a couple of months later, they're going to release something new, hire a lot of PR, and the same people will be "man, Jev had fallen but this new [xyz] brings them so back! [xyz] industry will now be dead!"
altmanaltman··on Local Wikipedia: Wikipedia, but only for things a half hour walk from you
I mean, it's the brain, not the world around it. Our brains haven't really evolved much while civilization and technology have been growthmaxxing. Same reason why certain social media posts can trigger a physical, emotional reaction, even though for 99.99% of the time there were no cellphones or social media.
altmanaltman··on OpenShell – A safe, private runtime for fleets of autonomous AI agents

altmanaltman··on Upcoming critical PHP security release (CVE-2026-109618 / -109619)
Yes but that means it is trivially exploitable today since anyone can get access to a LLM and where to point it towards. 2-3 years ago, things were different, that is also correct but that doesn't mean things stay frozen in time.
