No soul, adventure or brutal honesty

antioxidanton HandBrake 1.7.0 – The open source video transcoder

I don’t know anything about them, ChatGPT figures it all out for me. I just say if it needs to lower quality or resolution, keep original, remove audio, keep subtitles etc

antioxidanton HandBrake 1.7.0 – The open source video transcoder

Nowadays I just ask ChatGPT to give an “ffmpeg” terminal command

Works much faster than any app and I can customize it

antioxidanton Bitwarden: Free, open-source password manager

Nothing. Adding 2FA codes to logins costs money, and self-hosting is deliberately difficult so you’ll be using the cloud.

Also you can’t edit while offline.

antioxidanton Apple Has Begun Scanning Your Local Image Files Without Consent

Same thing for me. First time mediaanalysisd has ever connected to the internet. Why? What is it sending?

antioxidanton YouTube is banning anti-vaccine activists and blocking all anti-vaccine content

Awesome! Finally. I think they should ban all anti-Facebook content as well. Facebook is a good company and never makes mistakes, to think otherwise is simply dangerous for the whole tech industry and must be removed.

antioxidanton TikTok requests access to devices on local network

They used to check your clipboard the whole time too.

They use the local network as one of their sensors to identify you (fingerprinting). However they have plenty more (see their privacy policy).

antioxidanton 1Password 8 will be subscription only and won’t support local vaults

I’ll switch to Bitwarden! Wait… Bitwarden is cloud only? Wait… Bitwarden doesn’t allow offline editing? Wait… Bitwarden has a self hosting docker which will end up using more RAM than an electron app?

Uh, I guess I’ll use KeePassXC then.

antioxidanton Sodium rutin extends lifespan and health span in mice by 10%

Rutin is basically an antioxidant that contains quercetin. Yet another antioxidant which “prolongs” lifespan by a negligible percentage compared to other antioxidants and mice on a keto diet which avoid the oxidative stress from carbs in the first place.

It seems we always hit a limit to lifespan studies. Unless we are able to modify the organs themselves, including the insulin response and mTOR, no single substance will ever prolong lifespan in a significant way.
