Voldemort, presumably
apt-apt-apt-apt··on OpenAI seems to be silently re-enabling model training on Codex chats
Or my other favorite move, the quiet new little guy in settings.

E.g. "Allow ABC to transmit, log, and track your every move? ON" Hey, when did this little guy get here!

apt-apt-apt-apt··on Ask HN: Are you tired too in this AI era?
The entire point of 3000 line PRs is so that you can LGTM and not feel too bad about it
apt-apt-apt-apt··on Ask HN: Are you tired too in this AI era?
I finally understand how tiring and how much work it is to manage tasks and make decisions all day.

I used to think that only the workers (the coders, burger makers) did all the hard work, while the managers and up basically sat on their butts and relaxed. But decisions and managing even without coding is just as exhausting.

apt-apt-apt-apt··on Claude Code regularly sends each background agent’s transcript to its model
At least they seem to have fixed their free-revenue feature-bug, where they randomly invalidate your cache (~$8 a pop (turn))
apt-apt-apt-apt··on MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch
Do NOT touch my screen please!
apt-apt-apt-apt··on Florida officer found dead man, impersonated him for years, renovated his home
That's one way to get a home.

This sounds bonkers, but there was a kernel of legal strategy here - adverse possession, basically a statute of limitations on getting your land back.

D-pad would be better, but somebody sacrificed functionality for aesthetics
apt-apt-apt-apt··on Tell HN: I unknowingly broke the PHP RCE embargo. I am sorry
"Real full" or "actual full responsibility", which then points to the original as "not full".
apt-apt-apt-apt··on Tell HN: I unknowingly broke the PHP RCE embargo. I am sorry.
Exactly, full responsibility implies paying for damages.

Curious whether the lack of audible inner monologue is a benefit for you?

I feel like I'm the opposite, where most of my thinking is done in inner English, which feels slow. I.e. as opposed to instantly realizing the result of deep subconscious processing or something, I usually go the slow language way, if you get what I mean.

apt-apt-apt-apt··on What I learned from six months of being stupid on purpose
Yeah, but can he find a building skyline or the best time to buy and sell stock
apt-apt-apt-apt··on Any window from your Mac, on your iPhone and iPad
It can – what does a window from there mean?

Is it a screenshot tool or emulator or view-only screen sharing? You have to get through the second paragraph to understand what it is.

"Use any window" would be better I think.

apt-apt-apt-apt··on 11 year old unsoundness bugs found in Rust borrow checker
Perhaps they meant "like an iron, it will stamp out the bugs"
apt-apt-apt-apt··on I paid people to try and follow my README
Understandability depends on the audience.

E.g. as someone who doesn't "Fediverse", the intro section leaves me having no idea what an ActivityBot is or what an ActivityBot account is.

apt-apt-apt-apt··on AI agents in a stand-up call
Love the promo video song, how did you make it?
apt-apt-apt-apt··on Tell HN: GitHub refuses to remove cracked copies of my software after a month
What do you mean by "the way our economy works"?

On reflection, it's a great convenience to leave your cart around. So I think cart pushing is a valuable service to provide, and leaving your cart should be fine if it's stable and not in the way of anything.

apt-apt-apt-apt··on Tell HN: GitHub refuses to remove cracked copies of my software after a month
I once posted a joke about how I love leaving shopping carts everywhere so that cart pushers have a job, and got enthusiastic replies supporting me.
apt-apt-apt-apt··on We're going to need default hard budget caps on pretty much everything
Clearest explanation ever.

Plus, nobody wants to be the fired PM who said "I spent our eng. hours to achieve -20% revenue".

apt-apt-apt-apt··on StreetComplete on iOS is now in public beta
Aren't there many places where a highway with no sidewalk is the only walkable option? So if someone saw your not-walkable, they might think not walkable at all.

Seems like you guys had two different perspectives, both arguably right. Maybe it needs to be split into technically-walkable and comfortably-walkable layers.

apt-apt-apt-apt··on The last time my family was replaced by technology
How can you say there are no challenges and things to master when working with AI? Unless you are just doing "Make this. LGTM. Now make this".
apt-apt-apt-apt··on Livenerf: Has Opus 5.5 been nerfed yet?
Fable 5 seems like it got nerfed when 5.1 came out.

apt-apt-apt-apt··on macOS Golden Gate Is a Buggy Mess

apt-apt-apt-apt··on Astra for Coding: Why Are We Doing This Again?
AIUI, it is a type of factory that produces software.
apt-apt-apt-apt··on All grown-ups were once children, but only few of them remember it
I think everyone wants the experience of living, but it's not a great one without money, and money commonly requires full-time work until financial freedom. But that point usually comes at 65.

So it's not that only children appreciate life, it's just that adults have to deal with that whole money problem, while children don't.

apt-apt-apt-apt··on LG TVs caught spying even when offline or on standby
It showed VIZIO revenue numbers ($1B hardware sales at -0.8% profit margin, ~$500M ad revenue at 61% profit margin).

Based on that, it seems to me that TVs are a one-time-sale commodity with low margins, while ads are continual revenue generators with high margins. This makes the incentive extremely clear.

apt-apt-apt-apt··on LG TVs caught spying even when offline or on standby
Unfortunately, considering that 80-90% of people simply don't think or care about this, I can see the incentive.
apt-apt-apt-apt··on LG TVs caught spying even when offline or on standby
What's the incentive for these manufacturers to do this?

Are they getting paid for the data (e.g. we'll pay you $100M to install spyware), or are they trying to be an ad platform, or is it simply analytics gone out of control?
