aquinn··on Google Drive detailed: 5 GB of free space, launching next week
I switched to Ubuntu One. It has 5GB free and a decent android client.
aquinn··on What happens after you interview at Y Combinator — and get rejected.
Other than the fonts looking a bit jagged on Win7/Chrome the design looks amazing.

aquinn··on Stripe raises $18 million from Sequoia
I'm sure Deutsche Bank were less enamoured with it.

aquinn··on Your Phone Loses Value Pretty Fast (Unless It's an iPhone)
There's newer firmware updates but they won't release them. Perhaps other carriers have newer updates for my phone but i'm on a contract.
aquinn··on Your Phone Loses Value Pretty Fast (Unless It's an iPhone)
Unsurprising since phones are ditched by carriers after they're sold (orphaned android user).
aquinn··on Lake Vostok Reached
It's Antarctica and it's protected by international treaty. Not sure why Russia were even allowed to do this.
aquinn··on Richard Stallman's Computer Setup
The bios seemed to be his only sticking point about not using other hardware. Maybe something like coreboot might fill that need now?
aquinn··on Please tell us what features you'd like in news.ycombinator
Please add a submit button to the search box at the bottom of the site. I can't use the search function on Android (Opera) and less importantly, w3m.
aquinn··on Co-Founder of Stripe [YC] Interviewed in Depth (Audio)
That limerick accent is fading fast:) Top it up by watching some Rubberbandits. Loved the interview.
aquinn··on Richard Stallman's Computer Setup
He runs a modern full featured gnu/linux distribution like a lot of people, just rarely boots into the desktop.
aquinn··on Tell HN: You said not to. So I quit my job and started. 5 mos later: OpenPhoto
Eliminating needless sites like yfrog and twitpic?
aquinn··on If Dropbox Used GitHub’s Pricing Plan
More private repos with the paid plans would definitely keep me paying and might convince others to pay.
aquinn··on Samsung installs keylogger on its laptop computers
Just installed Windows 7 on my desktop using the key from my laptop I wasn't using and this ISO.

aquinn··on Poll: Which web browser do you use?
Firefox feels prehistoric in many ways compared to chrome but I won't switch until they copy the awesomebar verbatim. It's perfect.
aquinn··on How to build an 8x8x8 LED cube
Yes amazing, I used to have Instructables in my rss reader but had to remove it due to the articles being totally unreadable.
aquinn··on Write your passwords down
I read a story on HN a while back about a guy who used an algorithm to generate his passwords. Don't have the link but something like combining easy to remember bits of personal information. e.g mother's name, kids birthday, maybe changing the case of these. Also adding something site specific like the last three letters of the url backwards. It's easy to remember passwords this way but if one gets out they're all vulnerable if someone looks closely.
aquinn··on Anonymous Ousted from Twitter and Facebook
I suppose the DDOS cannon will be aimed at twitter and facebook next then.
aquinn··on Save My Life - help a fellow HN'er
I really like STDP/EDT as a form of therapy. See if this resonates at all with you. http://www.istdp.ca/Somatization.pdf
aquinn··on Linux Mint 9 Released
seems to be a distro derived from ubuntu with polished ui and proprietary codecs and drivers preinstalled
aquinn··on OneSocialWeb: We’re Ahead Of Diaspora In The Creation Of An ‘Open Facebook’
Yeah, it would be nice if they had an open server that allowed you to sign up and check it out. There's nothing stopping anybody from setting one up though.

aquinn··on The state of Mac and Linux gaming
i bought the indie pack only because i wanted some games to play in linux
aquinn··on Diaspora Project: Building the Anti-Facebook
wow http://onesocialweb.org actually has working code. doesnt seem to be any demo offering public registration yet though. might try and install it myself later.
aquinn··on Storage/fetching/streaming service Put.io launches

aquinn··on Sun/oracle closes project kenai
subversion hosting with bug tracking and wikis and the like. nicely integrated into netbeans too.
aquinn··on Sugru - hack things better
i think I saw somewhere that it was about 7 GBP for a pack. not too bad. I really like the look of this stuff, can already think of loads of uses, including making a nice little stand for my ipod touch to have beside my computer. Could become as ubiquitous as blu-tack. also sugru (súgradh) is the Irish word for 'play'.
aquinn··on Arduino pop3 email checker
I recommend http://www.adafruit.com I bought the usb boarduino kit for $25 which is the cheapest way to get into arduino if you already have a breadboard and a soldering iron. Great tutorials on the adafruit site too.

aquinn··on Ask HN: What email client do you use?
it doesn't sync all your mail.
aquinn··on Ask HN: How do you record your thoughts?
Google notebook is pretty good and i mostly use that. autosave, search, tagging. They don't develop it anymore apparently but it's still usable. http://www.google.com/notebook
