I'd be interested to hear from a Tesla owner on this. Maybe it's a non-issue.
This is fantastic news for Verafin, and, like you said, will have a huge impact on the local economy of the St. John's area. It's nice to hear some good news for our area for a change. I look forward to watching the software industry in the area unfold over the next few years.
It's great to hear that their headquarters is going to remain in St. John's as well, I feared the worst when I initially read the headline.
Although what really surprised me in this article is that Google Home only has 14% of the market share while Amazon Echo has 73%. I had assumed that their market shares were much closer, but according to the article Echo is out selling Google Home more than 5 to 1!
I haven't used Opera since they changed rendering engines, so I can't comment beyond that.
That said, 100km/h made sense in 1970, but now with the safety of modern cars, there's no reason that 130km/h shouldn't be the standard everywhere modern cars are prevalent.
But I think it would be a problem if every Monday and Thursday night Google Now started providing information about AA meetings in the area, instead of bar information. It's up to the user to make the choice, Google Now just detects trends and then displays information based on those trends.
I go to the gym every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday morning. And each of those mornings Google Now tells me how many minutes it will take me to get to the gym from my current location. Should Google Now start giving me directions to the nearest breakfast place instead? No, not unless that starts becoming my pattern.
Personally the emulator is of no use to me, but like you said, it's all about the preservation of the generation of games. In 50 years will it even be possible to find a working Xbox 360? Probably not. That's why projects like this are needed.
It will be very interesting to see where Alphabet/Google go in the next 10 years.
Again, I doubt it would ever happen, but it's interesting to consider what the impacts would be if they did. I don't think Value is for sale, and if it were Microsoft would be much more likely to purchase them.
With Chromecast I can have the desire to watch something and have it playing on my TV within seconds. So it may not be revolutionary, but it certainly speeds things up.
That said, I'd love to sit down and play with the OS on the phone to see what it does different from other mobile OSes today.
