I've worked across a variety of domains (healthcare, geosciences, now ecommerce), I tend to take a generalist role, and I'm happy to work on back-office functionality that doesn't get much customer visibility. I'd be particularly interested in roles from firms in the finance/capital markets space.
* Matthew Klein & Michael Pettis - Trade Wars Are Class Wars
* Bruno Latour - We Have Never Been Modern
* Thomas Kuhn - The Structure of Scientific Revolutions (had never read it before, probably book of the year for me)
and of course, Matt Levine's Money Stuff, which is good every year!
It's also very easy to interlink things and make notes as verbose or minimal as you like from page to page. I can define an item in my weekly todos but then link to a project page that's part of a kanban board that has more context. Overall the UX just feels really elegant compared to everything else I've tried to use.

I'm currently an intermediate engineer working on payments integrations, with some background doing more full-stack work. I like core/infra work, and I'm primarily looking for a role at a firm which is either directly integrated with or adjacent to my primary interest, capital markets
I was creating a unit test in a Go codebase and I had dumped the JSON that I was going to be decoding at the top of the file, and when I started writing the assertions, Copilot was very quick to use the data from the JSON, with quite high accuracy, based solely on me typing which ticker I was going to assert against.
I feel like you're just going to get stressed engineers who are stretched thin across multiple domains. This sounds horrible
The projected rate increase is the result of the dot plots, which is the assessment of both governors and regional members of the FOMC. It is not binding and it serves merely as a projection.
If you watch the press conference, you can tell how annoyed Powell is at constantly having to answer questions stemming from what the dots show.
The screenshot immediately under this statement shows an Okta share price of $226. Am I misunderstanding something?
In the winter, electricity usage in the north is devoted to heating, whereas in the south temperatures are mild. The result is that power is moved back up the intertie from south -> north. In the spring, snowpack melt refills the reservoirs in the hydroelectric system, allowing it to be ready to provide power to the south again once temperatures start to climb.
I'm in a similar boat as the Macbook Air, but I was going to go for a Surface Book because I want the detachable tablet features
The only downside is that the difference between extensions installed on the remote and locally is a little confusing, but the extension ecosystem in VS Code has satisfied all of my use cases. I've also run into some occasional ssh hangups on weak connections, but I haven't experienced that isuse in a few months.
For years I was a linux guy, and now I see no reason to go back, because I can just remotely access a linux environment from whatever system I'm already on. Less time spent swapping between operating systems to work on projects, and a consistent environment, are both huge features.
They laugh at me, but I think its a viable use case
