arknave··on Attorney General will ask Zuckerberg to halt plans for end-to-end encryption
> There have been a few studies that found that the group of people consuming child abuse media and the group that actually molests and rapes children doesn't have too much overlap, contrary to what one might expect.

Do you have some links for this? I've anecdotally heard it both ways.

arknave··on The Machine That Builds Itself: The Strengths of the Lisp Languages (2016)
> "Lists, which are a generalization of graphs, are extraordinarily well supported by Lisp."

I always thought of linked lists as a special kind of graph, where each node except the head and tail had exactly one incoming edge and one outgoing edge. What's a better way to think of this in terms of LISP?

arknave··on Show HN: The wearable that communicates entirely through your sense of touch
Can anyone speak to the effectiveness of this? Never heard of this idea, but are the vibrations precise enough?
arknave··on “Should you encrypt or compress first?”
I picked up on the reference to Stockfighter, but does anyone know if the walking machine learning game mentioned at the end of the article exists? Sounds like a fun game.

I don't know how many books there are on those topics. A lot of the data structures in higher level competitive programming problems have pretty niche uses. It might be best to look at papers instead. Here's one on the Fenwick/Binary Indexed Tree:

arknave··on Show HN: Cdefs, extract function prototypes in C files to JSON
There's thrift, but they have a custom specification with types. It shouldn't be too hard to go from JSON to thrift though.

arknave··on Show HN: I built an extension of JavaScript in a day
Looks like the readme example doesn't work. I didn't compile the djs sayHello function to verify it matches the given javascript, but running sayHello("nyc") spits out

  Hello to undefined, nyc
You didn't tell me your age
When I'd assume you wanted

  Hello to nyc, Tim
You didn't tell me your age
arknave··on Show HN: A Swift implementation of selected parts of Python standard library
This reminds me of boa.js - https://github.com/Zolmeister/Boa

Python's got a great standard library with lots of common functions. Many of these functions should be standard.

arknave··on HSCTF – A hacking competition by high schoolers for high schoolers
This is actually perfect timing for US upperclassmen - this is the week after the AP tests, when many classes lessen the workload. Many schools I talked with about picoctf didn't do it because of its timing.
