arxari··on Inception-style curved map for turn-by-turn directions
This should be brought up to block the patent ngl
arxari··on Inception-style curved map for turn-by-turn directions
I thought the same thing, just opened it and went "patent pending... Really?"

I am genuinely annoyed when someone gets a helpful UI idea and their immediate thought is "wow, I should patent this so I can monopolize this helpful idea".

Look at the dependencies in the cargo.toml file.
arxari··on Devices with GrapheneOS support should be available in 2027
This is something that no Linux phone enthusiast seems to understand.

Also if we use atomic distros with flatpaks and whatnot that mimic Android security the end user basically ends up having to essentially use Termux (but busybox or something similar) on their Linux phone as well

Well for me I use Lineage without even MicroG and everything I need works - yes even banking

I'm assuming you already have but in case you haven't I recommend checking out more work by Fingerspit, notably the OST for Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood and the album Atticus VII
arxari··on Multiple Mouse Cursors in Wayland
> micromanaging your env

All the "micromanaging" you need to do to not have screensharing is one of the following; 1. Don't have a started dbus session 2. Don't have portals installed and setup 3. Don't have pipewire installed and setup

Meanwhile on X what you need is: 1. Have X

So no, it wouldn't work, the reason why it works for those people in the Reddit post is because they use distros and sessions that do all the things I listed that make screensharing not work if any one is not done.

PS: Wayland does have testing protocols for screenshots and screenrecording like 'wlr-screencopy' and some DMA buff one I forgot the name of. But for screen sharing there's nothing that Wayland implements itself afaik.

Kudos for sharing, I've known about this for a while but this is hopefully going to introduce a lot of people to the information.

arxari··on BYD outsells Tesla 10-to-1 in Australia as Chinese EVs dominate January sales
Wonder if there are electric cars that can at least a little bit compare to the modavility/reparability of older fossil fuel powered cars. I'm not that into cars myself but from what I've learned from a friend it seems like they really just don't compare in that regard.

I still find it unfortunate that while they semi address the fuel problem electric cars still contribute just as much to plastic pollution because they still use tires.

arxari··on Show HN: Emergent – Artificial life simulation in a single HTML file
I wish HN would let you filter slop somehow, code assistance can be at least reasonable in some cases, but using Show HN for just vibe coded slop is really lame.

arxari··on In 6 violent encounters, evidence contradicts immigration officials' narratives
I mean yeah, they're not "for" it but you can see how deploying the PD would be helpful as they're more inclined to be non-violent and also I'd reckon they have far more experience than ICE considering the mass requirements which results in many many ICE officers being pretty much just militarized citizens with lacking experience put into stressful situations.
arxari··on In 6 violent encounters, evidence contradicts immigration officials' narratives
I think to an extent Trump is a fall guy, even when it comes to Venezuela he was dragged through the mud where his predecessors have constantly undermined the sovereignty of other nations and attacked them under the guise of protecting the US from terrorism when it was about oil and mineral ritches [1], the same with the deportation centers which while they were getting some criticism it was nowhere near the level of slander that there is towards the current admin doing the same thing.

That's the what the state police is for... the one that Minnesota refused to deploy to help ICE when the Good and Pretti situations happened.
arxari··on Ask HN: What tech purchase did you regret even though reviews were great?
Quest 2, I still think it's great but I got unlucky and bought it at the time of the increased price, a few months before it went back down and then even more down a year or two after. Admittedly my own fault but still regretful due to the fact I could've saved over a hundred $ had I waited.
arxari··on US Supreme Court allows order forcing Google to make app store reforms
> make Play's app catalog available to competitors. Those provisions do not take effect until July 2026

Incredibly based, hoping this makes custom ROMs more easier to use due to less lacking of apps.
