asymmetric··on What I run on my $10 USD OpenStick homelab
If you run the system closure eval on a different host and just substitute on the OpenStick, you should be good.
asymmetric··on Raspberry Pi Zero 3W and Pi 4 Model A spotted in device trees
OT but I would love to see your terrarium build!
asymmetric··on Picard 3.0
This is great, but what dj software do you use that supports this format? Mixxx would be the obvious first candidate I guess.

And what are the chances that one of the big names (primarily Pioneer) take up something like that?

asymmetric··on Improper redaction reveals Google Data Center water and electricity usage
I think people actually do though? They are even sabotaged at times (has happened in Europe at least), to protest against their water usage.

I’ve been using EveryDoor so far, excited about trying this one out!
asymmetric··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2026)

asymmetric··on The old-school way of keeping the summer heat out of your home
If we’re talking about mass seasonal exodus, then this is an entirely recent phenomenon in southern Europe, post-WW2. So depends on OP’s definition of “old-school”.
asymmetric··on The old-school way of keeping the summer heat out of your home
That’s amazing and inspiring! Does it look like what’s described here? https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com/2025/06/dressing-and-undre...
asymmetric··on Show HN: Criterion Closet as a website – pull any of 1,247 films off the shelf
Nice!

Would be really nice to have links to director's picks. Eg I clicked on Che, saw that it was in Denis Villeneuve's list, and wanted to check out his other picks.

What is the most interesting part of what happens?

I find your line of thought interesting but I’m not sure where you’re leading it.

asymmetric··on New gas-powered data centers could emit more greenhouse gases than whole nations
Yeah, this seems like a textbook case where one could apply Jevons Paradox.
asymmetric··on I run multiple $10K MRR companies on a $20/month tech stack
> Also avoid their object store.

Curious as to why you say this. I’m using litestream to backup to Hetzner object storage, and it’s been working well so far.

I guess itt’s probably more expensive than just a storage box?

Not sure but I also don’t have to set up cron jobs and the like.

For me it’s org-mode. Although now that I think of it, there’s a Neovim implementation I’ve been meaning to try.

Do you have some links?

Also I assume the privacy implications are vastly different compared to running locally?

asymmetric··on In Europe, wind and solar overtake fossil fuels
I think you’re wrong, especially if you consider more the just carbon (eg land use, deforestation, …) https://woods.stanford.edu/news/meats-environmental-impact
asymmetric··on Found: Medieval Cargo Ship – Largest Vessel of Its Kind Ever
> On its stern, researchers were shocked to find extensive remains of a castle, a kind of covered deck where the crew would have sought shelter. Records show that castles were distinctive features of medieval cogs, but no physical evidence of them had previously been identified.

I suppose this explains why the thing that exists on more modern ships is called a “forecastle”.

PS go check the pronunciation for that word as it’s quite surprising.

asymmetric··on Ozempic is changing the foods Americans buy
Really happy about how things are going for you, and the positive impact this is having on your family!

It’s good to get some good news sometimes. Thanks for that :)

asymmetric··on Eulogy for Dark Sky, a data visualization masterpiece (2023)
From my quick research, it seems like people in the sailing community actually prefer Windy.com to Windy.app. (yes, there's a very confusing name clash)

Is it “set up the page” or “set the page up”? Or both?
asymmetric··on Unifi Travel Router
