b3ing··on Wealth Inequality in America drawn to scale
I wouldn’t of expected median household at $220k, avg American doesn’t even make half that
b3ing··on US Government is hiding a secret court ruling about how it spies on Americans
How can you change anything when the system is built with a fundamental flaw, the constitution never incorporated ethics, it was supposed to be up to the people to vote in ethical people, but that failed. The ones that benefit are corrupt and won’t change it, and good luck on getting enough people voted in power with a conscience to change it and not be swayed by power and money.
b3ing··on Disney Raising Prices Days After Confirming Ads Will Now Show Up on Every Tier
Do we need more “content”, most of the shows and movies they make are pretty bad and only content for content sake. It doesn’t tell a real story, it just puts some action and conflict wrapped around IP characters with no real substance
b3ing··on Pentagon grants DHS permission to test heat ray weapon for use at border
Problem is these evangelicals don’t see others as people, just wait for them to define what Christianity is
b3ing··on Today, we hacked what we'd set out to hack: the iPhone
Target has been losing a lot of money with people deciding to ship elsewhere, it wiry, it just takes a lot of people to get together and do it
b3ing··on Airbnb bans making guests do dishes and take out the trash
It’s pretty well known some hosts cancel if your profile picture shows you with to much melanin to be wanted
b3ing··on The No Kings Takedown Is Why You Shouldn't Rent Your Megaphone from Zuck
Trump posted on twitter/x several AI pictures of himself as a king, that’s where the name comes from
b3ing··on America didn't lose its rare earth industry, it sold it
Software dev/design/architecture/... has been going the same way for 20 years.
b3ing··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
Until you get laid off or they do RTO, then it’s move back to the big city
b3ing··on Ideas on modernizing the open-source desktop
I read the article, but other than just the thrill of creating new ux solutions, why would a OSS dev do it because whatever he does will be copied by someone at the big companies and they won’t get any credit. And that would have happened before AI as well. So it’s easy for someone to try to tell people, hey start experimenting more but someone at Apple will take the credit if their solution is good enough
b3ing··on Running local LLMs on your Mac: what fits, what's free, and what's overkill
This is old, lm studio support has dropped quite a bit.

As of July the best seemed to be

b3ing··on Tech Needs Humanists More
People are not that simple to explain, that being said being a humanist it would seem you wouldn’t deny having a child, but again people are complex, we should stop acting like things are so easy to define or change people
b3ing··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
Yet Chrome will still be used and installed. I hope Firefox gains numbers but I know it won’t
b3ing··on Nike exits the S&P 100 after 18 years and a $200B market-cap wipeout
Hoka was advertised as walking on clouds, I bought a pair just for walking and being comfortable. My knees were hurting me sometimes after physical exercise and these shoes are everything advertised.
b3ing··on How to buy a good car for $1000
Do your research first, talk to a mechanic friend or relative about what cars are reliable. Get a late model of that or an older one with few miles. Stay away from CVT transmissions, avoid the first model of a car, go with a model that’s been around for years (plenty of parts and bugs worked out). Get the most basic version, and go for reliability over style.

The worst part is dealing with dealers.

b3ing··on Bending Spoons buying Miro for $1.355B
Well there goes that tool down the dumpster. Meetup has been nothing but finding ways to raise prices and revenue and not about building the site to be better, as it went downhill since like 2015/16
b3ing··on iPhone Duo
With AI that will be reduced, because the future is AI designed apps, just like sign companies slap Arial, Times New Roman on signs and others use wix/wordpress/squarespace for their company page
b3ing··on iPhone Duo
I wonder if you can hook it up to a monitor and use it like macOS. That would be the killer phone and killer laptop, then you just need to connect a mouse in and display or tv and work wherever. But I doubt Apple will ever do that, I don’t think they are bold enough to cannibalize their laptops.

Imagine being able to hook up a small slab to a keyboard or mouse Bluetooth then connect to a monitor, tablet or hotel tv, like the Samsung Dex can do. And run full laptop/desktop applications. One can dream

b3ing··on Shattered skeleton is first confirmed death from trebuchet
Hope he died quickly, instead of having to deal with the pain of multiple bones crushing
b3ing··on Universal Health Coverage Could Save $1T and 114,000 Lives a Year, Yale Study
Won’t happen the big players make too much money the way things are, and that is more important than people’s lives or for our country
b3ing··on Why I've tracked every single piece of clothing I've worn for three years
If you don’t use the dryer your clothes will last longer and not fade either, dress shirts keep their sheen as well
b3ing··on The American sports plutocracy
But they get to have their city/state name and a bunch of minimum wage jobs, and extra flight traffic for people and athletes that have no care about the area to come in and spend a few more bucks at chain hotels and restaurants that have their HQ in another state/city
b3ing··on Firefox is now the last major browser that still supports uBlock Origin
You can also run Ad Nauseum if you want to
b3ing··on Where did the old web go? We followed 657,607 links to find out
2003-2009ish was Web 2.0, part of it was CSS/web standards and AJAX and blogging becoming more mainstream
b3ing··on Nvidia Nemotron 3.5 Lightning and NeMo Switchyard
I hope ssd streaming gets more popular, maybe more breakthroughs like that will help change things
b3ing··on Zuckerberg's superyacht ignored emergency channel, failed to aid stranded boat
Vessel and crew should be banned from sailing , not sure if it’s possible to do that though
b3ing··on Don't use your phone while you poop
6 mins? Maybe with a squatty potty and if I'm lucky. Otherwise it's almost always 15-25min for me, not sure why, it just takes time.
b3ing··on It's not a fear of "AI communism"; it's a fear of competitive market capitalism
It’s fear of the US not controlling everything, if we don’t have the leading spot it must be evil or someone must have cheated, everyone knows it’s impossible for the US not to be #1. /sarcasm
b3ing··on U.S. used 'virtually all' of its long-range precision missiles during Iran war
Doesn’t matter as long as the Epstein files fell out of the news, it’s considered a success despite $40 billion spent
b3ing··on U.S. used 'virtually all' of its long-range precision missiles during Iran war
The strategy was to get Epstein off of everyone’s mind. And if it cost over $40billion and counting then it was deemed worth it, because the president comes first, that how’s our president thinks, me first, and our politicians, party first, our lobby second and the oligarchs third.
