Kind of like octopuses with the RNA editing, but doing it on another octopus.
barrenko··on Herdr has released native app
I've got access weeks ago, seems I've completely misunderstood what it does!
barrenko··on Herdr has released native app
Yes, become too big not to be acquired.
barrenko··on New 14‑inch MacBook Pro with M6
Imagine, these are the machines we get to vibecode on.

barrenko··on Ukraine claims first drone evacuation of wounded soldier
Contrast this with the supermarkets getting hacked in France.

At this rate, HN is responsible for my whole adult education.
barrenko··on Seized server Autistici/Inventati (A/I) in Amsterdam for U.S. authorities
What I really believe is that Europe doesn't really exist in a political / economic sense since the end of Franco-Prussian war.
barrenko··on Artificial intelligence is capitalism's final destination
Oh thank you so much for sourcing this.
barrenko··on Tell HN: Google Argon on a Pro subscription is worthless
That's in the Opus 5.5 range, no?
barrenko··on Seized server Autistici/Inventati (A/I) in Amsterdam for U.S. authorities
No we don't have sovereignty, we lost it about the time we started the first WW.
barrenko··on Artificial intelligence is capitalism's final destination
I love that theory or a post somewhere to the tune that capitalism is the way AI is assembling itself from the future.
barrenko··on Muse Wonder
Markets don't really care about countries, but there is one country which the markets seem to disproportionately like.
barrenko··on The baffling intelligence of a single cell (2024)
Cell membranes are fascinating in regards to your ANN nod.
barrenko··on 3rd Yandex Cloud Data Center Was Hit
Among them also Dan Abramov I think.
barrenko··on Programming Isn't Special
Programming is special, as it's basically translation on steroids.

I don't know what other profession weaves so many levels of abstraction to get to the final product.

barrenko··on Why isn't the industry freaking out about DeepSeek 4.1 Flash?
I mean, it is freaking out ? Or it was, but then started freaking about Opus 5.5 . But days are measured in dog days in AI.
barrenko··on GitHub's new dashboard experience now the default
Everything, including my Dutch textbook website for some reason, is vibecoded now.
barrenko··on Gemini 4 Argon
Google's approach reminds me of what could have been the EU's approach, they are really reluctant and drag they feet, but in the end they end up shipping and are competitive.
barrenko··on Gemini 4 Argon
~ unfortunately both Anthropic and OAI already do high end "bespoke" consulting work for business clients, the so-called "Mistral approach" is just a crappier version of that unfortunately.

Mistral / Europe just doesn't want to be in the fight.

barrenko··on Gemini 4 Argon
Google is the next Stack Overflow, but I doubt search will go obsolete obsolete.
barrenko··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
A night of no sleep this one will be.
barrenko··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
Sure are holding their own against the supposedly much richer Europe at this moment.
barrenko··on MiMo v2.6
On the other hand (OTOH), China is desperate to keep up and keeps pushing open models (rightfully so), as they understand how far ahead from everyone the US is, and that whoever gets this right first basically is going to become an alien compared to others.

But even with all the open models the US is just insanely ahead in AI buildout and capital allocation (as usual).

Is it a bubble? Is it like the race for the-first-to-the-nuclear bomb? Both?

barrenko··on I am often wrong
That is the culture of any self-respecting startup.

You can be informed by the community, but the decisions are your own.

barrenko··on Qwen 3.8 Omni Flash
I use Gemini(s) because I can send pdfs as files to their API and not worry too much. I've started to diverge and consacrate a part of my pipeline to sending image based pdf pages to glm flash 5.3, not sure how to address / test it properly.

Long term I have fears I can't depend of the Google's AI api.

barrenko··on Astra for Law
I'm doing some public court records processing for bankruptcy cases (interested mostly to seek out corruption in big national cases), and yes, the "variousness" of random PDFs is exactly the issue. Trying to get the cost for a whole case down to a minimum.

Sample is around 300 court dates, shy under 1k files.

At best I'm building a claude skills file.

barrenko··on Suspected sabotage causes major Netherlands rail disruption
Yeah, every time I try to look into an EU parliament detail, it ends up being bonker-ish for a lack of a better word.
barrenko··on Suspected sabotage causes major Netherlands rail disruption
We are at war with Russia, but just as with climate or mass immigration, we refuse to address it.
