Leetcode is often one or two rounds. You also get tested for culture and design interviews. This is not ideal but hard to see how FAANGs are gonna do it. I guess FAANGs need operationalists though except for their research arms. Dynamodb works well. Your job is to make it work 0.01% better to save a few mill.

Yes! Just say give me o(log(n)) dollars! Ah now you care about n and k.

L1 cache is useful (or maybe good processor design is the better analogy...)

Being quick at the command line, using the right tools, can get around VS code quick, can solve the more trivial code problems quick (or quickly critique LLM output or a blog post). It adds up.

Game speed too.

Glad I am not the only confused person. I marked it down in my "ah well i dont understand 10-20% of social media inside baseball" category.

I do see OSS as free labour for Bezos, Altman et. al. and act accoringly.

Closed source (but open data formats) may be the new open source.

Which is also why it is successful! You can get powerful plugins that way.

Is it much different from a windows app installer asking admin permissions then editing the registry and can plaster files anywhere.

Over stated. Just go to hostgator or one of the million clones and select to auto update or use a plugin to do it. Also use the backup plugin.

The real issue is if WP gets fractured or abandoned or weird license issues etc. Then I take my luggage to hugo or similar.

Beauty and the geek?

From a PR and Marketing point of view certainly. I love WP but wary to use it now. This stuff make me nervous. WP is it's ecosystem, and these moves may slowly kill that. I see WP as the quiet never talked about on HN nocode superpower! Here is hoping for no more drama.

Havent noticed that even on international calls. But it might depend on the type of convo. Latency for talk seemed a problem last in the 2010s skype era. Latency in what is shown on a screenshare.... yeah! A problem.

What does that mean (genuine question?)

Hope for new job roles. A race to automate all the things needs a lot of human effort!

As for location... yeah shit may change. But hey at least we give poor countries a fishing rod not a fish. They get richer and you could always go live in cambodia. Digital nomad becomes something normal people do. Not travelling is for the rich!

I am not sure. Remote working allows you to instantly pair with someone. No shuffling keyboards. There are a lot of software tools that help. Things like Loom let you async stuff.

What isn't is as good is social connection. I have not seen going out to a restaurant emulated well remotely.
