beedogs··on After 10 Years, Nathan Myhrvold's $3B of Private Equity Funds Show Big Losses
Good riddance to an awful business model. Hopefully he'll disappear and never be heard from again.

yep, you can go fuck yourself.

Yeah, that's about the response I expected.

And in any other Western country, you'll both live longer and have a higher quality of life.

Why would people do either of those things when ad-blockers exist?
beedogs··on Reddit just passed Facebook as #3 most popular website in US
I've got about a hundred accounts and none of them were created with an email address.

Wow, what a disingenuous comment.

you sure seem fond of that word "thug".
beedogs··on Reddit just passed Facebook as #3 most popular website in US
what the hell does that even mean?

You've used that term ("thug-rap subreddits") twice here in this discussion, and I'm pretty sure you're just trying to bait, because not only do they simply not exist, but even if one did, it would be about 1/100000th the size of a toxic waste dump like The_Donald or any of the MRA swamps that plague Reddit.

> So there's no debate to be had on affirmative action, and everyone who supports it is racist and wrong? Plenty of people I know consider it racist.

Let me guess: they're mostly white, and mostly male, and mostly of average- to below-average intelligence.

Reddit's also become the #1 white nationalist site on the Internet. And the admins don't seem to care.

Shut it down.

beedogs··on Twitter urges users to change passwords after computer 'glitch'
Same thing here. I ditched the online password managers a few years back for a similar setup and it's been just about as good as lastpass was, with the added benefit of being stored locally.
beedogs··on Facebook employee fired over bragging about access to user information
If it makes you feel any better, you've missed absolutely nothing. Facebook has only gotten worse.
beedogs··on AT&T updates firmware to block access to 1.1.1.1
With CGNat, you're lucky if you even get a routeable IP address anymore. ISPs have actually gotten substantially worse over the past ten years in this regard.
beedogs··on Apple deleted a job listing that hints at plans to cut Qualcomm and Intel chips
That's cool, but not for me.

I didn't buy Apple products before they went x86, and I won't buy any after, either.

beedogs··on Smartphone cradle used to cheat “10k steps/day” health insurance discounts
Tape it to a paint can at Home Depot and have them mix it up in the machine. You get the discount and people will think you're some sort of marathon runner.
beedogs··on Smartphone cradle used to cheat “10k steps/day” health insurance discounts
The point is somewhere well beyond a fifteen-year-old anecdote told anonymously in a public forum.
beedogs··on Intel's 10nm Is Broken, Delayed Until 2019
And good riddance.
beedogs··on Apple starting to alert users that it will end 32-bit app support on the Mac
Pretty much, yes.
beedogs··on Apple starting to alert users that it will end 32-bit app support on the Mac
Yep. I'm not excited about the prospect of moving back to the PC for making music, but it looks like that's what Apple want me to do.
beedogs··on Apple starting to alert users that it will end 32-bit app support on the Mac
For the past few years, Apple have been doing everything they possibly can to get creative professionals to leave their platform.
beedogs··on Tesla issues strongest statement yet blaming driver for deadly crash
Things like this have me fully convinced that we're never going to see ubiquitous driverless cars in my lifetime.
beedogs··on Uber is launching Uber Rent, a rental car service with Getaround
They probably shut down the self-driving thing because they literally stole all of their code from Google.
beedogs··on The Guardian covertly sends your data to 58 tracking services
They might not be able to. But popular doesn't mean necessary or good.

We'll survive without Facebook or YouTube.

beedogs··on ZFS on Linux: Unlistable and disappearing files
You've never had problems? You're lucky. I guarantee you will. It took me less than a month to lose significant data with it, under normal usage patterns.
beedogs··on Weirdstuff Warehouse is closed
Direct democracy was a bad idea.
beedogs··on ZFS on Linux: Unlistable and disappearing files
At least it's no btrfs. What a disaster that filesystem's been.
beedogs··on Uber enters dockless bike wars with Jump acquisition
Of course Uber's doing another shitty thing.

Dockless bicycles in Melbourne are being thrown into the river at an alarming rate, because people are sick of companies relying on littering in public as a business model.

So of course Uber is joining the party.
