bilinguliar··on MicroZig to Adopt Strict No LLM / No AI Policy
Without a policy, I refuse to have a clear understanding!
bilinguliar··on Go 1.27 Interactive Tour
Zig. I know it has generics. But I am now more aligned with where the language is moving. I admire how easy it is to do data-oriented design in Zig.

To put my money where my mouth is, I am donating $50 earned with Go to Zig every month.

You can take my place, as the same changes make me want to leave.

You should partner with a Cloud repatriation company. Ping me :)

Sqlite + Litestream for backups.
bilinguliar··on Ghostty – Terminal Emulator
I like how snappy Ghostty is. I do not like how it starts lagging after a few alt-tabs to Chrome and back on Linux.
bilinguliar··on I tried building my startup entirely on European infrastructure
Using self-hosted Mox for transactional emails.
bilinguliar··on The silent death of good code
Guided by the last generation of people with the know-how.
bilinguliar··on The silent death of good code
> That is irrelevant.

Why?

bilinguliar··on Tailscale Peer Relays
They support Passkeys. This is exactly how I continue using them after moving away from Google Workspaces.
bilinguliar··on HTMX is hard, so let's get it right
It is a nice post. A point of improvement would be to name fields idiomatically. Author should run a few Go linters.
bilinguliar··on Performance and telemetry analysis of Trae IDE, ByteDance's VSCode fork
As an asset who successfully infiltrated a rival country's tech company you want deniability. Bringing your own IDE does not look suspicious.
bilinguliar··on I hacked my washing machine
I suggest pushing washing machine metrics to Prometheus, it just asks for it.
bilinguliar··on Ask HN: What's your go-to message queue in 2025?
Temporal if you do not want vendor locks.

AWS Step Functions or GCP Workflows if you are on the cloud.

bilinguliar··on Ask HN: What's your go-to message queue in 2025?
I am using Beanstalkd, it is small and fast and you just apt-get it on Debian.

However, I have noticed that oftentimes devs are using queues where Workflow Engines would be a better fit.

If your message processing time is in tens of seconds – talk to your local Workflow Engine professional (:

bilinguliar··on Ask HN: What's your go-to message queue in 2025?
This is my go-to solution as well. It is great, but utilizes just one CPU core. But if this the problem, then your business is already booming.
bilinguliar··on America desperately needs more air traffic controllers
Wait, I thought we had AI.
bilinguliar··on Startup Winter: Hacker News Lost Its Faith
I value my own business for freedom, not money.

You don’t have to build a unicorn.

Business has to be sustainable; profit has to be higher than expenses.

bilinguliar··on Canon wants us to pay for using our own camera as a webcam
DJI is a potential backdoor.
bilinguliar··on You can't use your $6,299.00 Camera as a Webcam. That will be $5
Talking about solutions: Camlink. I use it with a very outdated camera for my online meetings. Works great and gave new life to a camera that I would throw away otherwise.
bilinguliar··on Stop Trying to Schedule a Call with Me
Being respectful to your SaaS users attention and time proves to be detrimental to your business.

The choice is to be deferential and poor, or bold and reach.

So far I am poor.

bilinguliar··on Nikon reveals a lens that captures wide and telephoto images simultaneously
They started the development in 2020, so it may still be a blockchain.
bilinguliar··on Ask HN: Those making $500/month on side projects in 2024 – Show and tell
Then you should use my https://commercialinvoice.app To generate, you got it, commercial invoices. To have a smooth customs clearance.
bilinguliar··on Fun with Go Iterators
When Go eventually lets all this horrible syntax sugar into the standard library, we will meet again in the Zig community.
bilinguliar··on Ask HN: What is your opinion on Open BSD?
I can not tell for sure, but one of the “are you a robot” checks fails with the default OpenBSD Chrome settings.
bilinguliar··on Ask HN: What is your opinion on Open BSD?
I use OpenBSD as my daily driver and develop software in Go. I use DWM + tmux + nvi + git.

Pros:

    - no-bullshit OS
    - very clean, you know what is where and why
    - distraction-free
    - proactive security approach
Cons:

    - slow if you use heavy software like Chrome
Potential deal breakers you should know about:

    - web assembly is turned off by default for security reasons (login to Hetzner or Sinology, using Google Docs is a problem)
    - watching videos in the browser does not feel great
I conclude that it is great for (my) work and encourages you to be minimalistic.
bilinguliar··on Hezbollah pager explosions kill several people in Lebanon
It most likely just received a code message that triggered the device.
bilinguliar··on Signal messenger blocked in Russia, says Roskomnadzor
I would speculate that growing local products is not the prevailing reason. An automated detection and detention of free thinkers is.
bilinguliar··on Signal messenger blocked in Russia, says Roskomnadzor
The genie is out of the bottle. Cryptography is already integrated deeply in out tech stack.
