If I walk into a room and someone asks "how do I deploy this app to the edge" there's 1000 answers that will either be right or wrong depending on decisions about that apps design that were made long ago but will still impact how I have to deploy it.
Ehrlichman told Baum. "We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."

If you and your teams cant sit down and have one or two hour-long conversations with an engineer and get a good idea of if their skills and experience will help you - you're dysfunctional have bigger issues that you need to look inward about.
If you leave password enabled you need to harden the env as you be getting git by every script kiddy the second your public IP is ready.
You shouldn't be logging into these systems manually either - you should be provisioning them with the OS's default config tools like Ubiquiti or Cloud-init, storing the configs and creds in encrypted formats and the feeding them to chef/puppet/Ansible or any other configuration management tool.
Humans shouldn't be fucking with production systems, they should be making commits to git that are applied by automated systems.
This was the case is multiple places I've lived in the Midwest.
