It's not UV that's the problem but heat. We could possibly cultivate algae that are more heat resistant?

They already do this. the email accounts already exist
booi··on Berlin-based Langdock moves its parent company from the US to Germany
i'm not sure why you're being downvoted. They know more AI regulation is coming, they know what it's going to be, they're influencing it and setting themselves up to benefit. It literally is the definition of regulatory capture.
booi··on Berlin-based Langdock moves its parent company from the US to Germany
i didn't guess, it was a rhetorical question.. it is regulatory capture.
booi··on Cloudflare Quick Tunnels
if you think people won't abuse it because you're making them log in with a free email address...
booi··on North Korean nuclear test sets off years of earthquakes
It's logarithmic so you'd need more like 30,000 magnitude 3 earthquakes to equal the energy of a magnitude 7. I don't think it's clear this is better. You can also make the argument that this may trigger the large earthquake that might not have happened for a long time.

let me guess.. regulatory capture?

I'm sure that's a requirement for being a "Tier-1" language.
booi··on OpenAI begins rolling out GPT-6 Astra
very human to be honest.
booi··on Xiaomi: New CPU matches Apple cores single threaded, much faster multithreaded
ARM is merely an IP portfolio licensing company. They don't really design or build anything. And everyone uses TSMC (who uses ASML). The primary design is still being done by Xiaomi, that's the most unique part of this build.

Stop downplaying how big of an achievement this is.

booi··on Air Theremin – a browser theremin you play by waving at your webcam

booi··on Mistral OCR 4.1
Citing nuclear weapons isn't the flex you think it is. There are only 9 countries that have nuclear weapons and they absolutely flex this power over non-nuclear powers (see Ukraine, Germany, SE Asia etc..)

Europe already has an innovation problem that's already causing structural economic instabilities which Germany has been struggling (and lately failing) to prop up.

As much as it pains me to say this, AI is already a tech revolution and it seems like Europe is just ignoring it. There's more innovation in 3 blocks in downtown San Francisco than the entire continent of Europe.

booi··on Mistral OCR 4.1
This is what I found as well.

We moved away from Cursor but I was looking for a model that would help with FIM (fill-in-middle) multiline autocompletion and people were recommending Mistral's Codestral. We gave it a shot and it was lackluster at best.. Even Google's Gemini did a significantly better job than Codestral.

Ultimately Opus-class models got good enough and I don't do much manual coding anymore.

booi··on Advancing the price-performance frontier with GPT‑5.6
I checked out your script but it looks like it's just a wrapper for ! ( p-eq-np.sh )
booi··on AMD's 256-core Epyc 9996 'Venice' claims up to a 3.4x jump over Intel Xeon
dear lord that's a monster chip. 128 PCI-e v6 lanes. Looks like it's an TSMC N2 process and each CCD is 155mm2. That's a pretty large die, i wonder what kind of yields TSMC is getting on these.
booi··on Setting up your spare Mac for Claude Code to control, a step-by-step guide
An argument against this method is UTM doesn't support graphics acceleration so browser support will be hobbled. Even if you don't need the acceleration, I've found browsers in UTM virtualized OS's can't get past some modern captchas and other browser fingerprinting checkpoints :\. It's terrible but that's the way it is.
booi··on Lobste.rs is now running on SQLite
I don't think SQLite is particularly optimized for modern hardware. It's just crazy efficient with a regression test suite many projects wish they could have.
