AR - I was blown away by the AR comic book reader developed by VeVe for their NFT comic books. I still think that NFTs are lame (at least their current format), but being able to see through your iPhone an old comic book sitting right there on your table and flipping its pages was something magical. Never before I wanted so badly to have AR glasses with me and just being able to read a comic book collection in this way, without the need of my iPhone.
Robots - I was initially excited about the Amazon Echo, but I ended up using it only to set a timer when I cook. The new Amazon Astro is exciting. Way too expensive right now and I am just scared it might be a huge disappointment, but the idea of having a robot in my house that follows me, helps me, etc. sounds like super fun and very exciting.
This is something similar to Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo asking for $$ from developers if they want to sell their games for these platforms.
For information delivery, RSS is great and the author of the article is right.
Creators reward is an issue that needs to be solved in any case. Ads help but you need a lot of traffic to make it worth it and they disrupt the reading experience.
Hopefully crypto and tipping will solve this, but I still need to see a good implementation of this.
It's still not clear to me, after being an Apple user and fan since the beginning and after reading Steve Job's biography, how much innovation Steve really brought to Apple. What I mean is: was Steve really the one who gave the initial impulse for some of the most innovative products we have seen so far (i.e. iPhone, iPad, iPod, etc.)? In this case, I think that Apple is doomed.
If, on the contrary, Steve was the quality checker, the one pushing everyone else to do better, I think that the current Apple's executive team can properly replace this role and do good at Apple.
The spirit of these replies confirms my idea of this world, made of people passionate about their projects and willing to share this passion with other people.
Thanks again to each and every one of you.
The general idea behind the website is to give users an opportunity to reach a big audience with their content. I already have about 400 users on the website's mailing list and I am trying to increase the number of pageviews on the home page. Let's say I can get at least 500/1000 visitors per day, this means that users posting their messages on Everythinker would know that their message - when it reaches the home page - would be read by 500/1000 users + 400 or more other users receiving the newsletter.
By providing pictures, I help users create good content.
What do you think about this idea?
I realized that I was "trapped" in a continuous need to mediate, compromise and discuss with these friends/team members for many reasons: split of shares of the project, lack of deep passion for the project, lack of knowledge of the current social network environment, etc. All the time, I spent 90% arguing with my friends/team members instead of working hard on realizing my vision.
After the last failure, I decided to give up but the desire to create something like this kept me from sleeping. I finally decided to work on my own, use tools that I master (such as wordpress with its thousands plug-ins, themes, etc.) and develop my vision.
Sure, I had to compromise on some of the things I would like to build and that wordpress does not allow you to do. But it is so much better to fly solo and be able to give life to your ideas and hopes. Just being able to finally ship Everythinker.com has been an enormous goal for me and I look forward to continuing building new features and adding new content.
Thanks in advance for any comment or feedback you may have!
On everythinker.com, we guarantee an audience for whatever you write! The website is based on quid pro quo. Every time you read another user's message, you get 1 point. You can then use your points to post your own messages. The more points you use when you post a message, the more users will read your message.
We want to give voice to everyone.
The website is still in beta and we would deeeeeeeply appreciate any comment or suggestion you may have!
I loved your suggestion to go with smaller blogs and provide them with a description of the project ready to be published.
Thanks again and I'll keep you HN friends updated.
