No. I was being earnest! Works for me TM
brightmood··on Show HN: Forkrun – NUMA-aware shell parallelizer (50×–400× faster than parallel)
I am using a 9950x3D processor and didn't see any slow-down nor cpu sitting idle, I suggest you read the man-pages more clearly :P

Why the hell do you curl ? Additionally, why do you advertise it when you just had uploaded it? Nobody should install something that new...
brightmood··on How to copy the current Christmas CSS of HN?
No I want to save what HN is use and add it to something like TamperMonkey user scripts so I get the alternating colors for HN permanently. I tried before but I failed. Do you know of a solution?
brightmood··on Ask HN: Why is Hacker News red? Christmas?
Made a request so I can keep using that when Christmas is over. It makes HN usable to me. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46382452
brightmood··on How to copy the current Christmas CSS of HN?
Year for year, I try to find out how to get each post in HN a different color for the number so that I can easier navigate.

Grey Red Grey Red ... It helps me same as a table with different row/column colors. Because when I need to callback information, I can remember, hey this was red! Next clue is I need to find a red label and a greyed out text. I wished there were more clues, but this is the best I know at the moment.

Could you please support me and possibly others? I got Autism.

brightmood··on CachyOS: Fast and Customizable Linux Distribution
TLDR if you are skilled on Linux use archlinux vanilla instead of their opinionated version.

- Super unstable if you use as a workstation.

- Purely gaming oriented.

- Constant untested things pushed into their cachyos-settings repo

- Bugs with their kernels they don't care for.

- Dismissal as it is not 'meant for workstations'

brightmood··on FP8 is ~100 tflops faster when the kernel name has "cutlass" in it
yea
brightmood··on Show HN: Piano Trainer – Learn piano scales, chords and more using MIDI
It's something most piano teachers advise AGAINST. But I am of the opinion that anything that makes you play the instrument works.
brightmood··on How to Network as an Introvert
Unrelated to the thread, but yes. Had the same issue.
brightmood··on How to Network as an Introvert
That part

> What? I think someone needing this level of instruction would be better served by basic mindfulness and small, manageable exercises in active listening or empathetic dialog, rather than a grab bag of non-contextual tips like this.

Look, when you say "someone needing this level of instruction," it comes across like needing detailed, step-by-step help is weird or a problem. But plenty of people with ADHD, autism, or other brain differences don't just find this helpful - they actually need it to make sense of things.

And suggesting they'd be "better off" with mindfulness or simpler stuff? That assumes they haven't already been down that road. Maybe those approaches just don't click with how their brain works.

Calling it a "grab bag of random tips" really undersells what's going on here. For people who need things spelled out clearly and directly, those specific tips might be the difference between something being useless and actually doable.

The whole thing reads like it's written from the perspective of someone who finds this stuff obvious, then judges other approaches as somehow inferior. That's the ableist part - acting like there's one "right" way to understand things and anything else is just... less good.

brightmood··on How to Network as an Introvert
Some peoples writing style is just like that. As somebody who gets this regularly, I find that it is really disrespecting my efforts.
brightmood··on How to Network as an Introvert
That's ableist. What if they have Autism or the likes???
brightmood··on Our sister died because of our mum's cancer conspiracy theories, say brothers
This particular nature of making quick conclusions can be found everywhere.

That article is no shocker. It exposes the same weakness in openly questioning things and using your brain.

Related: People argue like this:

- "All people who make stairs hating on wheelchair users"

- "Men who don't like other men crying or showing emotions are hating all women"

The problem isn't just conspiracy theories - it's this broader pattern of binary thinking that refuses to acknowledge nuance or complexity. When we jump to these extreme conclusions, we lose the ability to have real discussions about difficult topics.

These, or similar quick conclusions are flawed to the core and hurt those around.

brightmood··on YouTube's new anti-adblock measures
So you buy premium - now you don't have ads from YouTube anymore. But now YouTubers such as LinusTechTips and who else not want monthly payments for their exclusive content. Yea, that's not going to work. Now your watchers don't watch your content.
brightmood··on Hacking the Yamaha DX9 to Turn It into a DX7 (2023)
There have been many times where companies took down the resource. Be aware that they may make a claim against you !
brightmood··on Laptop
Macs give me headache because of the screen being too bright/colorful and no option fixes this. Lenovo Thinkpads do not.
brightmood··on Show HN: Shop Clothes with Models That Match Your Body Shape
You guys should be identity inclusive. Not only male or female.
brightmood··on LLM abstraction levels inspired by fish eye lens
How do I disable the fish following my mouse? I skipped the content because of that. Too, damn, distracting.
brightmood··on ADHD and managing your professional reputation
My neurologist has a LOTS of patients. All of those with either Autism or ADHD / similar symptoms claim that they feel they don't get enough work done.

I start to believe that we are overly self-critical, and that the actual workers are having better ways of hiding their incompetence :D

brightmood··on Show HN: I made tool that let's you see everything about any website
I have a issue with the website background - on a high refresh rate display with 240Hz, the background animation is incredibly fast and its super distracting.
brightmood··on Does Wayland really break everything?
Yea they should stop forcing it down our throat by making wayland default before fixing actual issues
brightmood··on Does Wayland really break everything?
The issue with Wayland is that we now need a new re-implementation of tools foreach compositor. Yes, compositor - previously in X11 known as Window Manager. You will end up with tools being scarcely available.
brightmood··on Does Wayland really break everything?
Absolutely - they didn't care for the users!
brightmood··on Does Wayland really break everything?
First, cause people gaslight those whose usecases werent covered by Wayland compositors, and then tell us 'You use it wrong'... Cause Wayland fragments the software rather than unifying it. Can't switch to sway from i3 cause many tools are just unavailable. Why would I want to bite into tons of lemons and jump through hoops when my system works on x11? The whole Wayland mess is very disappointing.
