brubaker··on A few reasons to avoid StartSSL
His argument is: this process is annoying, difficult and takes actual effort.

As extra validation is. It is a pain in the ass. Get over it.

He was the one to make the commentary on the process showcasing his personality so it's open season on that dialogue.

brubaker··on Netflix exec: HBO would have more customers thru online-only subscriptions
HBO is sort of foolish, in some of the statements their head has made. They really don't get this internet thing and still think it's going to be a passing fad.

For now it's fine of course, but it sounds like they want to be dragged kicking and screaming into new distribution. Instead of being a leader and putting themselves into a powerful position (they already create incredible content)

brubaker··on Is Goldman Sachs hacking my website?
C: It's obviously just a piece of malware on one or two of their computers doing automated scans.
brubaker··on A few reasons to avoid StartSSL
That guy sounds like an incredibly whiny douchebag.
brubaker··on Look mens watch can see a person's taste
What's with the watch spam tonight, this must be the tenth crappy post tonight.

Get your "genuine" ronex watch for 50 dollars.

brubaker··on Switch to HTTPS Now, For Free
I tend to take people that have a running douchey commentary with a grain of salt.

Plus he was going for validation, which isn't free and is a pretty obnoxious process regardless of who you go with.

brubaker··on Stop LexisNexis from Selling Your Personal Info
It requires supporting documentation?
brubaker··on McAfee vows to make Internet 'impossible to hack'

brubaker··on Oracle sued by Strip club over employee's unpaid tab
"New Century's attorney David Cook wasn't talking either, telling us only that the lawsuit speaks for itself."

Is that Saul Goodman's long lost brother?

brubaker··on Conspiracy Theories Abound After Navy Yard Shooting
"I sense another false flag"

I would like to know how many times that poster senses "another false flag" a week, let alone a year.

That person probably blames a red light or the corner store being out of milk on a "covert operation in progress"

brubaker··on Nvidia seeks peace with Linux, pledges help on open source driver
Do you honestly believe that there would be any damage to your company's image that would last more than 5 seconds to a small minority of people that would even see an article regrading "improper language"?

Unless your fellow developers are posting extremely obscene racial slurs and threatening rape on the interns. In which case your company has bigger issues to worry about.

brubaker··on Larry Ellison stands up 60,000 OpenWorld attendees to go sailing
Oracle and "Open" is laughable. But Ellison not showing up, nothing of value was lost by that.
brubaker··on Stop using Digital Ocean Now For the greater good
So OP went public, then claimed he didn't want to go public (deleted message) but still encourages people to drop DO based on his unhappiness..

Op seems very childish and not very forthcoming.

brubaker··on Dropbox asks government to let it publish surveillance requests
Stop asking and just post it.
brubaker··on Sourceforge pushing crap EXEs instead of FileZilla installer
Didn't they start pushing that crap a while ago. It used to be fairly low key crap, but still junk no person reasonably wants or would expect to be installed. They depend on people not knowing better and not paying attention.

There is no value added to the end user.

brubaker··on Ask HN: High-frequency trading (HFT) for individual investors?
Just outright take a match to your money, it will be a more efficient way of losing it.
brubaker··on For virtual prospectors, life in the Bitcoin mines gets real
The ones making real money are the ones selling the shovels.
brubaker··on Linux creator admits NSA demanded backdoor
The response was meant to be a joke but the question was pretty legit and left somewhat unanswered.

I think it was about 5-6 years ago but there was a case where a backdoor was hacked into the source code, it was pretty subtle for a change but was caught because of how it was done.

brubaker··on Are The Startup Fellas Hellbent On Destroying Education Even Literate?
Better title: Pretentious blowhard criticizes others.
brubaker··on [dead]
2. Great food and drinks

Yet they leave alcohol off the list.

brubaker··on Man Scrawls World's Biggest Message With GPS 'Pen'
A giant penis or the word boobs would have more merit than the suggestion of reading Ayn Rand.
