caviv··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (October 2025)
https://freesheet.io - My Tiny Sheet, I built a spreadsheet that runs inside your browser and saves data locally in localStorage. It is very good for small calculations and organized note taking. I have also added synchronization option to save data remotely. I am going to add also collaboration and more features.
caviv··on Ask HN: Do you still bookmark websites?
Yes we do. I am using https://yabs.io which is quite similar to good old delicious. It's free and ads free too.
caviv··on Ask HN: What's the best book you've read regarding software development?
Design Patterns by Erich Gamma (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_Patterns)
caviv··on Ask HN: Is maintaining a personal blog still worth it?
I have my "own" blog, though it is on the "old" platform of blogpost / blogger using my own domain. I find it difficult to understand what brings people. There are blog posts that I am sure will be a hit, but other posts actually brings more than I thought. https://breakpo.com - The post over merging two .doc Microsoft office documents got the most views by far. My blog is mostly about software stuff and things that I write so I will not forget them.
caviv··on Ask HN: What movies changed your perception of reality or life?
American Beauty 1999 - About getting older and understanding what do you want in life and what is really important, if you don't do it now you might never will.
caviv··on Ask HN: Those making $500/month on side projects in 2024 – Show and tell
Made an online dream interpreter that works automatically: https://www.understandmydreams.com in English and https://teusonho.org in Portuguese and also https://www.dreamon.co.il in Hebrew. People type in a dream and it interpret it online.
caviv··on I revived my email2json service
I have created an email-to-json service. This service creates a webhook call each time an email is sent to an address of your choice and pass the email content as json data to the webhook.

I have created this project a few years ago and then I got an email from a guy that wanted to do the same. I redirect my domain to his new service for free - but lately I have seen that he had abandoned his project, so I have revived mine back again.

email2json.com service.

What do you think?

caviv··on Ask HN: Show me your half baked project
I have made https://yabs.io (like good old del.icio.us)
caviv··on Ask HN: Show me your half baked project

caviv··on Ask HN: What are you working on this year?
Working on my startup for Charging and Routing optimization for EVs in Fleet. https://www.makemydayapp.com
caviv··on I am a quite good bad programmer
I agree. It is not that I am trying to ace code interviews - I am making enough income and I am not searching for another job. It is more a question of am I good enough or not? - Since I agree I am not good at algorithms (I think I quite fair in data structures) I can still create good software.
caviv··on I am a quite good bad programmer
That is true. I am not a native English speaker. I should work on my English skill though.
caviv··on Ask HN: Companies of one, what is your tech stack?
Hi, I use Cloud Services (AWS, Azure etc') for a simple machine. Then Caddy as webserver (with https from let's encrypt) phpfpm for the code.

That's it. Very easy.

Here is a sample: https://teusonho.org - analyze your dreams in Portuguese.

caviv··on Ask HN: What's the best source code you've read?
Here is the best code I have seen:

Yes, you are right. It is empty. The best code there is - is the code you did not had to write. It have no bugs, no latency. I am not being sarcastic here. I truly think that less code is better.

caviv··on Ask HN: Is there a spiritual successor to del.icio.us?
I created one for my own usage, and I gave it for free for other to use too: https://yabs.io (Yet Another Bookmarking Service)
caviv··on Ask HN: Why are bookmarks second class citizens in browsers?
I just use an external tool like good old del.icio.us now known as https://yabs.io
caviv··on Ask HN: Does anybody still use bookmarking services?
Oh yes I do. Best one ever is the https://yabs.io which is kind of like good-old-declicio.us
caviv··on Ask HN: Those making $500/month on side projects in 2022 – Show and tell
I have been running a Gematria website in Hebrew called https://gimatria.co.il - reaching just a bit more that $500 USD per month from Google Ads.
caviv··on Ask HN: Those making $500/month on side projects in 2021 – Show and tell
I have built https://www.gematrix.org (Gematria Calculator for different types of Gematria values) and it makes more than $500 a month. I am quite happy with it because I did it for fun as a way to learn MySQL and I was happy when people started to use it.
caviv··on Ask HN: Why don’t you use Linux as your daily driver OS?
I am using xubuntu and I love it.
caviv··on Ask HN: Anyone know any funny programming jokes?
Two programmers decide to have a bet: "How much should we be on ? a $1000 dollars ?" "Let's round it up to $1024"
caviv··on Ask HN: Show me your half baked project
A friend of mine she is a professional beach volley ball player. She said there is not enough information on the internet about Women Beach Volleyball. No leagues or players information, so I have started working on https://wwbv.org for Women Beach Volleyball data, players, games, tours, etc'. I never finished though.
caviv··on Ask HN: What's a side project you built to make money that hasn't?
Me and my brother made meeba-app.com an application for backpackers. But as soon as we launched it, this Corona thing started and people are not traveling and backpacking as they used too. We don't have many users now. I still think it could have been a great application for backpacking finding others the same state of mind but we couldn't get enough revenue and me and my brother each works on other things now. (https://meeba-app.com)
caviv··on Ask HN: What is the best money you have spent on professional development?
I know it sounds like cliché, but actually my B.A. in Psychology and Business Management. Cost met around $12K the whole university studying but gave me much more than I expected regarding understanding myself.
caviv··on Ask HN: Go programming language is over ten years old. What do you think of it?
I like it for the compiler. So easy to compile Windows application on Linux and vise versa - supporting all major OSes. If you had to go with C/C++ it becomes a much uglier solution and I hate Java.
caviv··on Ask HN: What is your passive income 2020?
I make around $2000 USD p/month so it is around $24K USD per year from websites such as dream interpretation online https://understandmydreams.com and I recently added more websites translated to Portuguese https://teusonho.org - so using Google Ads and Pay per dream analysis help me to make some money. I also sell Gematria database on https://www.gematrix.org/gematria_database.php
caviv··on Ask HN: Essential skill needed to be a programmer?
Not mine, I read it somewhere: "A good programmer is one who looks both sides when crossing a one-way street".
caviv··on Ask HN: What is your favorite motto?
"Never give up, Never surrender !" although taken from a comedy movie Galaxy Quest, I find it very much carrying me on !
caviv··on Show HN: A bookmarking tool designed to help synthesize your web research
A bit confusing. Me myself I prefer to use https://yabs.io - like good old del.icio.us
caviv··on Ask HN: Advanced Linux users, which distribution do you run? Why?
Not sure I am qualified as "Advanced Linux user". There are always more advanced than me and always less advanced than me. But anyhow, for desktop I really like Xubuntu. I love the way it is so simple using XFCE and Ubuntu is quite largely supported. For servers I don't really much care but I use centOS.
