ccbccccbbcccbb··on WikiLeaks is struggling to stay online as millions of documents disappear
By that I mean that all you see in the media is but a spectacle.

Did Wikileaks achieve anything else but raising the degree of angst and learned helplessness in mere mortals of this world? Maybe there occurred a revolution somewhere against the entities whose corpus delicti was leaked? Any supreme moron convicted? Anything positively changed in the global state of affairs?

Nope, all it did is communicate the message about how both utterly corrupted and invulnerable those entities are, and everyone trying to expose their crimes is doomed, like the character of Assange.

In simple words: Wikileaks == controlled opposition.

ccbccccbbcccbb··on WikiLeaks is struggling to stay online as millions of documents disappear
Wikileaks is a spent material at this point, its taskforce has been retasked with other, more topical objectives of the agenda.

ccbccccbbcccbb··on Kite is saying farewell and open-sourcing its code
Two things are not providing for a bright future of IT:

- developers willing to use AI crutches instead of their own brains to write their code;

- developers unwilling to pay other developers while being paid themselves by companies whose profit models are often far removed from the honest craft of developing something wholesome.

ccbccccbbcccbb··on What not to say to someone who has just been laid off
Hasn't it been too much 'what not to say' preaching lately? Gets tiresome.
ccbccccbbcccbb··on Is this the end of crypto?
This is the final chapter of the blockchain story, created from the scratch by the bankers, who lured early adopters with ideals of anonymity, digital anarchy and other cryptopunk ravings, made them run the prototype of bankers' future monetary system at their own and later investors' expense, provided for schemes to make rich richer and poor poorer, made huge profits for the energy-generating companies, and what the economist really says now is a gloating 'thank you, nerds and wannabe-billionaires, you can now go to hell and don't mess in the way of us the big guys'

Expect a world-wide blockchain-based banker-controlled centralized biometrically authenticated One World Currency soon, which you can loose access to for walking a red light, wearing a pajama in public, not joining the next scheduled Je Suis Charlie charade or refusing to jab.

ccbccccbbcccbb··on Z-library founders arrested in Argentina
Monkey see "communism", monkey downvote
ccbccccbbcccbb··on Z-library founders arrested in Argentina
So let's totally remove the heat-transfer agent from the thermodynamic machine of society and instead rely on an army of maxwell demons to decide how much food and floor space each human element in the system should be given for its work, right?

That was called 'communism', had been attempted to implement, resulted in millions of deaths and miserably failed regardless due to the physics of the process.

The heat transfer agent is not the problem per se, it's the ability of some entities to create it out of thin air and pump into the system, as well as shady mechanisms of its distribution.

My sincere fuck you goes to all the miserable transhumanists who give up all their human essence, including creativity, to their corporate-controlled AI overlords.

ccbccccbbcccbb··on Useful Engines
Indoctrination is way older than the technologies that propel it nowadays.
ccbccccbbcccbb··on Useful Engines
That's right, the most blatant of all brainwashes has always been directed at children. But it's totally under parents' radar, because they were treated well in their due time too. The human spiral of doom.
ccbccccbbcccbb··on 'It's so liberating': The people quitting social media
Data has been harvested, social relations graphs built, patterns revealed, AI networks trained. The damage is done!
ccbccccbbcccbb··on Microsoft sued for open-source piracy through GitHub Copilot
One doesn't simply buy GitHub for $7.5e+9 to foster the community and the ideals of open source.

Moreover, ideals like that don't simply pop out of the blue and right into the collective psyche without comparable infusions.

To drive it home in case lines between dots are not obvious: open source ideology, github and copilot are merely successive stages in the process of production of profit. The next step is obvious, get rid of human programmers and save on their wages.

This is where ideals lead.

Modern self-slavery at its best.
ccbccccbbcccbb··on Ask HN: Is everyone on Hacker News super charismatic?
Super charismatic, no.

Agenda-supportive, virtue-signalling, hype-bandwagoning, karma-worshipping, high-horse-scornful, cowardly-downvoting, way too many.

Snowflake-fragile, even more.

ccbccccbbcccbb··on Mathics: A free, open-source alternative to Mathematica
I thought that all the fuzz about something being close source / commercial aka overpriced is not worth a hill of beans, because if it doesn't fit your ideals/wallet you just use what fits.

But no, there's always a discourse about how unfair, unethical, greedy etc the developers of closed source / commercial aka overpriced software are, which vividly displays that the actual sentiment in these complaints is pure and simple envy, towards better things that cost more, towards developers who make a living off their own projects and don't feel obliged to worship the ideals of open source, free as in beer, cheap as in dirt etc...

Sorry dude, one can't simply tell truth here. Your downvoters shall persist with their cognitive dissonance until they find themselves literally l̶o̶c̶k̶e̶d̶ self-isolated in t̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶e̶l̶l̶s̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶M̶a̶t̶r̶i̶x̶ their cosy appartments f̶e̶e̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶M̶a̶c̶h̶i̶n̶e̶ signalling their virtue, and even then they will pretend it's OK and everyone dissident is just nuts.

ccbccccbbcccbb··on NASA finds super-emitters of methane
Modern corporate raid how-to:

1. Define target

2. Draw plumes of methane over the target on satellite imagery

3. Set Greta at the target and take it over, pleading climate change

4. Remove the plumes from imagery

5. Continue target's operation as usual

6. Profit

ccbccccbbcccbb··on An unwilling illustrator found herself turned into an AI model
It's simple: if you don't respect other's intellectual property, expect that no one respects yours, and if you give away for free what others sell for a living just because you have another source of income, expect the latter to be taken away from you too.

Truly it's a sad and ugly state of affairs these days.

ccbccccbbcccbb··on Over-reliance on English hinders cognitive science
So yeah, instead of learning one de-facto lingua franca of the world and more or less successfully communicating regardless of geographic origin, let's totally focus on learning, let me cite the article out of context,

> the current 7000 or so languages

, all meaningful international interop be damned!

The gist of the article is basically the hackneyed "diversity is good", but no solutions are given as to how would people understand each other should this pesky English domination be gone. Should all the world become over-reliant on google translate instead? That would mean business for google, for sure.

A Russian-speaking guy who doesn't feel over-reliant on English a tiny bit here (and also notices the morbid tendency to separate the humankind and encamp it back into the isolated national states of the yesteryear).

ccbccccbbcccbb··on The sound of Earth’s magnetic field
Here is what genuine recording would sound like, for example:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llXu9pSvF54

I do realize though, that many people won't hear any difference.

ccbccccbbcccbb··on The sound of Earth’s magnetic field
I hear what they did. There are distinct generators placed in various places in the sound stage, with reverbs on them, with sound that is characteristic of granular synthesis.

Even if you are not familiar with these methods, just think about it: even if soumeone would genuinely just bring the inaudible frequencies of a recording of magnetosphic waves into audible domain by speeding it up, without any processing, where would this lush stereo imaging come from? It would be plain and simply monophonic.

Moreover, they don't quite make it secret that this is not the actual sound of the magnetosphere:

>Musician and project supporter Klaus Nielsen, from the Technical University of Denmark, explains, “The team used data from ESA’s Swarm satellites, as well as other sources, and used these magnetic signals to manipulate and control a sonic representation of the core field.
