ch49··on JavaScript async/await implemented in V8
Why is "async" keyword needed? Can't JS engine infer from the use of "await" in a function that this function need to be async? I'm using async/await for a while now, and so many times I've introduced bugs in my code because i forget to put "async" in front of the function, or put "async" in front of wrong function. It's simply annoying to go back and put "async" when in middle of writing a function I realise I need to use await.
ch49··on An overview of JavaScript reactive frameworks
I think articles discuses reactivity and Virtual DOM based implementations. Didn't blaze move away from virtual-dom diffing?
ch49··on An overview of JavaScript reactive frameworks
The link you referred is about Functional Reactive Programming. Reactive programming by itself is more of a pattern than paradigm. I would call React a reactive framework. How reactive a framework/library is varies from framework to framework. Every framework has its own flavour of Reactivity. Mostly it's some kind of implementation of Observer pattern.

Two famous Reactive approaches are FRP and Meteor's reactive computations.

ch49··on Towards a Vim-like Emacs
I like the emacs key bindings too, but many times I find myself reading the code with one hand used as a stand for my head. Vim's ease of movement across text is what I wish at such times. Of course evil mode come to rescue then, but I understand how so many people come to appreciate Vim's style so much over time. I am finding myself on the same path.
ch49··on Ask HN: Do you think it's good practice to hell ban for not commenting?
I have only one active HN account. I wonder if only submitting my own blog posts might be considered wrong behaviour. I write on my blog once in 2-3 months, and submit it to HN. HN and reddit are my only source of good reads, so I rarely find something useful to submit; and I submit links when I find them.

Not commenting/submitting regularly is the only reason I can think of that can be considered bad on my part.

Here's my other account for which HN has gone read-only: https://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=channikhabra

Thanks for the pointer. I highly appreciate that.

Thanks for your comment.

I don't know if I can get professionals who specialise in emotional intelligence here in Bangalore (India). Most psychiatrists I can see online have "drug rehab" like words highlighted.

More physical activity is what I gonna do next (will join a gym next morning). Changing activities is something I wonder how I can do. I spend almost all my time on computer, it has never been a problem until now. And I have changed places a 3 months back. I came from my home to Bangalore dreaming of a city overflowing with tech geeks (although all I could find were people doing their "jobs"). And I don't think I can leave it for few months, I am 100% on my own in this city; in a month I will run out of funds and have to get myself fit for work before that happens.

> If you need anything you can contact me.

Thanks. Your words are enough, I think I am the only one who can do something about anything else I need.

ch49··on Ask HN: What does breakdown feel like?
I am not sure if it's a burnout. I am perfectly sound physically. I had a small period of time when I couldn't think clear, it spanned 2-3 weeks though so may be can't call it small; I barely remember few memories of that time. But it was 3 months back and I snapped out of it as soon as I got physically well and was as productive as I am normally.

Now although I am physically sound, I am unable to concentrate. I can't focus for no apparent physical reason other than this feeling of too bored to live. May be I am actually depressed, and should go get some counselling.

Joining a gym is next thing I gonna do next morning. I want to avoid seeking professional help, but I will go for it if I have to. I am the laziest of all people I've ever known, but I am fed up with this virtual death. I want code flowing through my Emacs again.
