charlesroper··on Ask HN: What book did you read in 2016 that was so good you gifted it to others?
Team of Teams by General Stanley McChrystal.

Fundamentally about being agile, adaptable, transparent, collaborative and decentralised. You could say it's about digital transformation but on a military scale. An excellent companion to some other books mentioned here, such as Deep Work (this book is a constructive counterpoint in many ways), Extreme Ownership, and Ego is the Enemy.

This service is neat: http://huffduff-video.snarfed.org/

It extracts the audio then "huff-duffs" it; i.e., puts it into an RSS feed you can consume with your podcatcher of choice. Check it out, it's great.

charlesroper··on Instapaper Finally Makes Its Android Debut, And It’s Almost Amazing
I love Pocket. It's one of my favourite Android apps. Apart from the great features (video, paging, tagging) I've always found the parsing algorithm to be superior to the alternatives. Another plus is their dedication to support many platforms, which means I'm not tied to Android.

Ultimately I liked Pocketso much I paid for the pro version, just like many others[1]. Their business model seems pretty sound and they have a lot of users and the product is excellent. What is so exciting about Instapaper?

charlesroper··on E Text Editor: Releasing the Source
Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. Most users of E suffer from a few bugs because the developer likes to get release early and release often, so bugs often creep in, but they have mostly been fixed very quickly. I'm not sure why you should have had such problems. I've used E for a couple of years now and have only been troubled a couple of times; generally it's been very stable.
