Firstly, the published reason is they intend to let people contribute and maintain the dataset. This is a good open data mindset to allow a dataset to maintain its health and grow. It would make the dataset sustainable.
An unpublished reason is that it could be a sign that things within Foursquare are winding down. Making the dataset sustainable reduces internal costs and increases the value to themselves and others. (like the reasons to open source software)
Foursquare City Guide is shutting down, and recently laid off 105 (25%) employees. I would imagine releasing data before things stop is a good ethical move.

"The letter does, however, address which units were impacted and, relatedly, the divisions that Foursquare plans to ditch, including Visits, OCF, and Foursquare City Guide.
According to Little’s letter, Foursquare is also pausing work on a number of other initiatives, including "Mobile Developers Tools, Geode, and the current version of FSQ Insights."

And if we extend the search to all placenames dedicated to St Michael quite a bit more!
It's not pure coincidence but it is a kind of observation error as highlighted in other comment. Increasing and decreasing the variables and measurements effects the odds.
Basically you can get a line between many things on earth, but 1) the dimensions of that line cannot be chosen if you also want to choose the things that define it or 2) the dimensions can be chosen but the things that make it up cannot.
Simply cutting something out will leave a gap where that something was. We should fill it with things of our choosing otherwise it will be filled up with something of a similar gap shaped thing!
m5 hosting reported a "DDoS attack against a popular web site we host"
another submission notes that the https cert is newly cloudfare so looks like HN is using it to avoid the DDOS
cloudfare is probably being used for this
It's not some independent platform or non profit. It muddys the water at least.
By identifying and charging commercial users it will clean up reddit for the normal user and increase income.
If that fails, just destroy them. Remove them from your life should be the priority you are literally dreaming above them every night.

Usually needs dedicated servers, but you should be able to contribute if you use a beefy VM
The real question therefore should not be "lets find common ground now its peacetime and be friends" but "how can we be resilient to not be enemies in the next war?".
It's a difficult and deep question which requires a kind of secure moral framework to operate in.
For example mention how much power an always on computer is drawing and say that videos use CPU which ramps up the wattage and usage. Bright monitors use more energy than dim ones etc. Sleep mode vs always on.
If you want to go even further you could mention the carbon footprint of youtube and internet servers but this is pushing it a bit.
Here it's read life advice on the internet to be able to get stuff done to promote life advice on the internet.
Now there is a certain avant garde playing with the narrative thing going on, which is part of it, so the story that you can find out about the thing is changed at the time its going on and after its happened. The lore is recorded by people within the culture and they are in on it. Certain of the interactions with the author and the characters she met were on the whole staged, or intentional trolling of the author. "some young writer is coming so let's tease her".
The trolling, anti-cancel culture, the pro-autism always-online which may have come from the chans is almost 100% opposite from the "white pilled", positive, almost over the top caring messages that the subculture is putting out. But it's not the same as the we are all going to make it greed-optimism of crypto.
As we see in these fellow comments, most people who have encountered internet people have found them to be nihilistic, anti-social, maladjusted and negative. This sub culture is trying to be the opposite of it, but it exists along side a kind of schizoid-side - it's very odd.
Compared to other NFT young people meet ups (the author previously wrote a popular article about the Bored Yacht Club parties) - this subculture appears to have more women.
Compared to other NFT projects, this art project does not prioritize holding or purchasing an actual NFT image, and seems to value a kind of plagiarism, "just download the png" or anti ownership in a way. It reminds of of plunderphonics/vaporwave from last decade.
The traditional and social politics of the founders seem at odds with a rave and taking drugs. puzzling to me! Someone here says that the drug - Ketamine is apparently chosen as reduced social anxiety?
Thus we have a call for "just believe in the technology" which on it's own is fine, but it's a call that is required for all the scams that have occurred and keep on occurring to occur.
So people easily confuse the enthusiastic earnestness of blue sky thinking with crypto/blockchain with the enthusiastic earnestness of the fool that is rapidly parted with his money.
(As a note to this, I hope that the current massive crash of crypto happening right now might in a strange way increase the actual number of interesting technologists involved in it somehow, but I've not identified how)
