If you zoom in, you realize that every little pinhole between the leaves of the trees, works as a pinhole camera, drawing a little sun circle- and that during a eclipse, the whole shadow is made of thousands of little eclipsed suns.
The oil and gas industry survives and dictates policy not because its very influential- its simply the economic backbone of the empire via the petrodollar. https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrodollar
And the people life in de-concentrated large scale villages instead of cities, because the empire is in no need to tax economic activities such as moving large distances via driving a car efficiently. So the government, cursed with the ressource curse of beeing able to sell security outside of the us- pacifies the population with economic presents, which are often just frozzen in time retro trinkets.
One can not derive any political and economic lessons from such a strange diorama.
There is no incentive
And the whole glut is artifical in the first place because surplus wheat is not allowed to be used as energy, no it must rot in storage snd get "animal grade" before you can use it otherwise. The whole reason the eu system still works is because the traders largely ignore the central planing system, shipping things from high regulated eu countries to "i dont give a f**" countries, recertify it there and then reimport.
The "engineers" using that AI. Could they repass the whiteboard tests of old? Have not some of them quietly left?
Well: Energy is 54 % of the money. Which is mostly for the industry up north. Renewables are decorative in the percentage.
Rail: 15.63 % - again mostly for the norther industrial zone- and some link ups with the southern neighbours (under the guise of helping the backwards regions down there).
Roads: 13.94 % same though alot of it is also for tourism. But also logistics.
Ports: 7% Sofar its mostly a trade and industry support program- bluntly directed at becoming the usas new industrial heartland.
The problematic part is that most of this infrastructure is private loan based investment in partnership with the mexican goverment. US-companies will own significant parts of the infrastructure down there and thus have a handle on the government.
This is mostly a "re-industrialize" the us plan without having the problems with industr you have in the us.
