clippy99··on Workers are spending over 6 hours a week botsitting AI, fueling job frustration
Just 6 hours, lol!
clippy99··on Why Gentoo?
Gentoo veterans should remember this one:

clippy99··on SpaceX launches Starship v3 rocket
SpaceX does an excellent job at videography. Sad that Nasa flew its Artemis mission with potato cameras.
clippy99··on GenCAD
Maybe I missed something, if you have the image rendering in the first place, you already (likely) have the CAD. It is a nice demo, but what is the utility?
clippy99··on Dark patterns: Buying a Bahncard at Deutsche Bahn
I love that subscriptions in the US are (usually) immediately cancellable. Germany is the wild west of predatory subscription plans, and unfortunately the legal framework weighs heavily in favor of the businesses issuing these contracts and not the consumers.
clippy99··on Thoughts on Mechanical Keyboards and the ZSA Moonlander
Lengthy article but not even one image of the Moonlander. OP, why do you make me Google it?
clippy99··on Why was Apache Kafka created?
Kafkaesque to configure and get running for simple tasks.
clippy99··on Why was Apache Kafka created?
Startup founder here -- we tried it, and it feels bloated (Java!), bureaucratic and overcomplicated for what it is. Something like Redis queues or even ZMQ probably suffices for 90% of use cases. Maybe in hyper-scaled applications that need to be ultraperformant (e.g., realtime trading, massive streaming platforms) is where Kafka comes into play.
clippy99··on Google in 1999: Search engines escape the portal matrix
Who uses google to search anymore? LLMs FTW.
clippy99··on LeetCode for System Design
What the poster is insinuating is that system design interviews may devolve into a scripted / memorized hoop-jumping experience rather than being a creative technical problem solving discussion.
clippy99··on Material 3 Expressive
How to spend millions on an incremental change -- looks flat and uninspiring as ever...
clippy99··on Nokia's internal presentation after iPhone was launched (2007) [pdf]
> Symbian was going to magically fix all their problems.

Really? I remember Symbian had the crappiest and most shoestring C++ dev stack ever.

clippy99··on I automated my job application process
What does solving random puzzles from Leetcode have to do with day-to-day engineering work? IMHO, the emphasis should be on previous experience, CS domain knowledge and systems architecture / design. Maybe degrees need to be fixed to convey more useful knowledge...
clippy99··on I automated my job application process
What about honoring our multi-year college degrees. Isn't that licensing enough?
clippy99··on I Automated My Job Application Process
I love the system he built, but the kicker would be to enable auto-filling and submitting on the various career portals. I question the efficacy of submitting job applications via email in 2024 (but perhaps I'm in the wrong industry.)
clippy99··on The Skyline algorithm for packing 2D rectangles
Great writeup. Sucks when this gets asked in a coding interview to be solved in 15min :)
clippy99··on C++23: Removing garbage collection support
At first glance I thought this was the headline of a satirical article. :D
clippy99··on Caproni Ca.60
The cathedral of drag.
