cloudengineer94··on Anthropic S-1
I’d rather buy Amazon and Google, get exposure to them through there
cloudengineer94··on I quit OpenAI because its culture is broken
I quit many companies in the past due to bad culture, there's no shame in this and shows how mature a person has become.
cloudengineer94··on One month coding with GLM 5.3 Flash
I really love GLM 5.3 Flash, I have it working on my own Coding Agent which gets called by my Central Orchestrator in Hermes.

I created it's his own bot profile even...

cloudengineer94··on Apple Pass Designer
This is quite amazing and the step in the right direction for more wider Apple Wallet support outside the US
cloudengineer94··on DeepSeek Elastic Compute (DSec)
Very similar to Google Ax, looks like it's Deepseek answer to Google
cloudengineer94··on Saving another 100TB of RAM
Every single optimization stories I read such as these make me super happy
cloudengineer94··on Qwen 3.8 27B
Having some really good fun with it so far with System Design (ERP) mainly SAP.

I did notice if you go beyond Medium he starts overthinking like hell as per usual for a Qwen model.

cloudengineer94··on Qwen 3.8 27B
Been trying out Qwen3.8-27B-Q5_K_S_20GB and it's quite interesting it's behaving very well.

Going to give it some coding tasks and see how it goes.

We been eating good at LocalLlama this week.

cloudengineer94··on Melatonin impairs morning cognition in healthy young adults (2023)
Yeah I noticed it didn't make much to me besides make me have weird dreams.

I do recommend people to have a healthy lifestyle and avoid screens 45 mins before bed.

cloudengineer94··on Qwen 3.8
Things are heating up in China.

Looking forward to see what Antrophic and OpenAI does next.

cloudengineer94··on Qwen 3.6 27B is the sweet spot for local development
I'm using Qwen and Gemma 4 locally and it's pretty good stuff, not frontier level but gets the job done.
cloudengineer94··on Asian AI startups launch Mythos-like models
Just like many comments have been saying here, I also tested Fugu and some others and what I noticed is that they are quite expensive models, 20$ is not enough to complete a full workflow which in Opus it's possible, sure you might need to improve your prompt from the get go with Opus if you want the best results but so far that's my experience.

My next test will be Agentic systems and see how they perform

cloudengineer94··on OpenAI unveils its first custom chip, built by Broadcom
Broadcom also has direct allocation with TSMC, which is a big win
cloudengineer94··on Digital euro clears key hurdle as EU seeks to break free from U.S. credit cards
Reminder to the people reading this thread and overall comments, that in Europe everyone uses Debit Cards instead of Credit Cards.

Credit Card in Europe is very much associated with Debt.

cloudengineer94··on Steam Machine launches today
Not sure who the target audience is for this.. indie gamers? But yeah I saw the news piece about the 750$ before memory craziness set in, still a lot.
cloudengineer94··on Ask HN: Has anyone replaced Claude/GPT with a local model for daily coding?
I have tried in both my Mac and my desktop (Rtx 5090) with Gemma 4 and Qwen and so far nothing is quite replacing Claude Code or Kiro for spec driven architecture & development.

I do think we are slowly getting Gemma 4 was a big jump

cloudengineer94··on AWS Bedrock to require sharing data with Anthropic for Mythos and future models
If it’s for future models at the same level of Sonnet and Opus, then it might become a problem for the for companies using this.

At the end of the day we will need private LLMs and Cohere might save a traço great chance here

cloudengineer94··on Confidential submission of draft S-1 to the SEC
Here we go… Let’s see if retail investors are indeed exit liquidity or not
cloudengineer94··on OpenAI Submits S-1 Draft to SEC
Here we go
cloudengineer94··on DeepSeek reasonix, DeepSeek native coding agent with high caching and low cost
Quite interesting being Terminal based and the AI skills staying within a file of it's own.

Will give a go and see how cache behaves

cloudengineer94··on Memory has grown to nearly two-thirds of AI chip component costs
With how things are going, I'm really wondering how we are gonna tackle the consumer market for things like gaming and machine learning.

No doubt Cloud Gaming is in the cards for the future, only purists like myself with an RTX 5090 will pay premium for offline gaming

cloudengineer94··on GOG: Linux "the next major frontier" for gaming as it works on a native client
If we didn’t have Kernel Anti Cheat in Windows, it would be a godsend for Linux gaming.

It’s literally the only issue missing (and some games not available under Xbox game app but I mean it’s Microsoft as publisher so no intention for Linux version)

cloudengineer94··on Try to take my position: The best promotion advice I ever got
Absolutely, but also you need to make sure you take on the strategical work of your manager and not the typical day 2 day stuff at operational/expected level, you need to do stuff above your waist line.

I liked the article and it’s right, but at the end of the day you also need to make sure your manager puts you up for promotion and that he is allowed by their management as well.

cloudengineer94··on Not an iPad Pro Review: Why iPadOS Still Doesn't Get the Basics Right
Honestly, it' crazy how limited the iPad still is in this day and age. I was hoping for them to add a terminal and improve the files app.

But I already gave up on it especially after the recent comments from Apple as they want people to buy both devices to 'complement' each other: https://www.macrumors.com/2024/05/13/apple-vp-mac-ipad-compl...

I own an M1 iPad Pro but 80% of the time I use it as a sidecar due to how limited it is.

cloudengineer94··on MacPad: I created the hybrid Mac-iPad laptop and tablet that Apple won't make
I use the iPad Pro with a keyboard and Remote Desktop to my Mac or my server at home.

Works good enough...

cloudengineer94··on AMD leaps after launching AI chip that could challenge Nvidia dominance
They gotta keep working on the software side of things like drivers, FSR and more.

AMD is so far behind on this.

In the other hand though, their 3D Cache chips are amazing

cloudengineer94··on How Meta patches Linux at hyperscale
Been using Kpatch with tons of my VMs, works quite well
cloudengineer94··on Linux Performance
I also use Tuned for SAP workloads, love it!
cloudengineer94··on ToDesktop – Web app to desktop app in minutes
I'd rather have a pure web app than a janky desktop app made with Electron or some other tech that eats my RAM.
cloudengineer94··on Jim Keller and his pioneering work on chip design and architecture
The man is a legend! He made an amazing go work across Apple, AMD and recently at Intel.
