i think theres a divide between people who have worked in good front end repos and ones whove worked in horrible ones. I had to work on an app that was a mix of styled components, scss, inline styling, and globals. It was a wreck and every change took longer because of all the spaghetti styling you had to eat, Id take tailwind in a heartbeat over that.

one thing thats frustrating about this kind of article is it doesnt reckon with the reality of why were addicted to oil, its about who owns the means of production and which people are enriched by it.

modern people are so capitalism brained the idea of feeding the animals without them paying is out of scope. Humans love animals, and feeding animals, and keeping them around, people will go to huge lengths to take care of animals for no reason at all.

humans have a natural drive to do this, not everything is some quid pro quo. How could you see a wolf puppy and not light up? Humans think almost every animal is cute in its own way, its very in our nature.

its what you said its also the way america handles stem education, often times you skip a bunch of humanities classes. So its really easy to get into this mindset of "I made it, I work in tech and make 300k because Im smart, smarter than everyone around me" and from there people just reach the assumption that if you dont make hundreds of dollars a year its because youre dumb, or lazy, and its your problem and theres nothing wrong with the way we designed society.

one of my biggest issues with the LLM is how it always wants to give me a mountain of code. A lot of the time Im using it for react, and it always gives me a full component no matter how much I specify I just want the method. It will not remember this for more than one message and will go back to giving me as much code as possible.

Ive been interviewing at start ups to get out of my contractor job, but recently I gave up.

I had this one interview where I had to remove nodes from a linkedlist. Pretty trivial, right? It is, but as I was writing out the solution, probably for the 200th time, I thought "Ive never used a linkedlist, ever"

And I thought, I just cant do it anymore. I cant reverse one single more binary tree. I cant listen to some CTO tech bro in his early 30s explain to me why I need to be in an office he'll never set foot in for the 'company culture'.

Ive had so many interviews just like this. Ive done 7 hour on sites where you break down algorithms, system design, app development. Its brutal out there, no one seems to have any idea what their looking for so they just put you through the ringer.

So now im not interviewing, Im happy and content in my bank programming job. Im probably not a very good programmer, thats okay, Im a wonderful partner, family member, musician. Ill get by, hopefully, for another decade until everything collapses.

I got sent back to the office where I work in an open floor plan cramped next to people and were all on our own video meetings. Its awful.

I prefer public transit! No parking, I dont feel nearly the same frustration, I dont have to make decisions, and at the end of the day I can be a little high on the train. Its bliss.

i would wager its more likely that people who are prone to developing it are more likely to be smoking weed to try to deal with earlier symptoms. Weed isnt a particularly new thing, despite its recent potency.

in that case the conversation is still kind of missing the forest for the trees, yes your career will be safer if you get into management but thats not going to play for everyone. Mathematically, it cant, not every engineer can go be a manager. What Im interested in is the stories of the people who arent going to make it.

this is kind of an unfair comparison. Whats the endpoint of generating AI videos? What can this do that is useful, contributes something to society, has artistic value, etc etc. We can make educational videos with a script but its also pretty easy for motivated parties to do that already, and its getting easier as cameras get better and smaller. I think asking "whats the point of this" is at least fair.
