the framework part isn’t mandatory, but I suppose very small tweaks with something like tailwind do the trick for me.
I can’t work with css if there are massive classes and nested stuff etc. I guess composition over inheritance
Checked exceptions are far and away the worst part of java and I'm glad that no other language I've personally encountered have them!
On a more real note, I work at a shop with a fair amount of java now and checked exceptions are definitely my biggest complaint. I hope we adopt this, I'm sure we won't, but I'm glad to see a little movement on what I feel is the crusty status quo in the java world.
When people are hyper critical of Python I feel it’s typically they haven’t seen real professional Python before and just throw scripts around… if you work with some hardened Python pros you pick up the tricks really quickly and it’s very enlightening.
I’ve always struggled to find all of those tricks in one online resource personally.
Cars are cool but humans should be capable of flight, I guess only birds got the memo about wings.
Lawyers use specific case law databases and they SHOULD approach any new tools with healthy skepticism.
And if he googled it and cited a fake case would it be better? Why wouldn’t you vet the information.
I mean, as long as the internet is mean to you about it. Now, if the internet isn’t mean enough you should be penalized some amount that accounts for how mean the internet was.
In fact, I think doctors that amputate the wrong limb should not face malpractice lawsuits if the greater metropolitan areas local news station ran more than 2 stories about it reaching a population of at least 2 million viewers.
Just look for a consulting group that doesn’t have 40000 job postings on LinkedIn
Working in my first big-tech(ish) job, I've noticed a lot more dissent than I expected... and its really wild to me just how many people think a large company would run better if they were in charge. Its entirely possible that nobody would make the right decision under any circumstances. Slack is a pretty insane echo chamber and mixed with the god-complex we tend to have as developers... its a recipe for disaster.
I don't know much about what its like to work at amazon, I think RTO is silly, and I do think that climate impact etc is all important.... but its shocking how much company time people in high paying jobs spend just shitting on the company.
We worked for companies that had a lot of extra cash but didn’t want to hire for these roles out of stubbornness. We were basically there to clean up messes and attempt to build/handoff AI backed solutions to off shore teams… the generalists just were not good and were drowning in work.
We even assumed that in a few cases we were typically not talking with the person on teams and instead got a random employee of their own consulting place. Face to face meetings were RARE.
I guess my point is that people working these “quarter of the price” roles are not great and the companies hiring them aren’t trying to build anything of quality.
Healthcare companies trying to get their piece of the govt money without providing any real value
