codegladiator··on API responses should be signed
OP is talking about system 1 getting a response generated by system 3 VIA system 2 (potentially trusted man in the middle).

And they are already assuming that system 1 and 2 talk using https and system 2 and 3 talk using https.

codegladiator··on Was the containers hype an industry/tech media propaganda?
> That's not really true.

Haha, are you telling me my perception of my life getting easier is not really true?

codegladiator··on Was the containers hype an industry/tech media propaganda?
Following that throught process everything will look like a propoganda.

I suggest you to read and listen to everything (all propoganda) and make your own choice.

For containers, I don't use containers because everyone thinks its great, but because it makes my own life easier.

Similarly I could say functional programming is a propoganda, but I haven't picked it up yet since I don't see that much of pros.

I always feel bad software like SoftIce will never be a thing again. Felt so much power using it.
codegladiator··on Forced migration to Google Sheets API v4
> So there is literally no point talking about anything positively here

Point being there is no one to argue against or defend google here in our echo chamber. Most here agree about it already, maybe tell someone in your family and try to convince them.

codegladiator··on Forced migration to Google Sheets API v4
> Might I suggest being the change you wish to see in the world

I don't use google, and don't talk either positively or negatively about it.

> If you would like to see more positive stories and comments on Google

I don't want this.

codegladiator··on Forced migration to Google Sheets API v4
> I was a huge google fanboy

Allowed or actually made the following happen

> Google got stale, then monopolistic

> so I won't shut up about it

Please stop and let it go. Nobody is talking about google except google and you. It's not helping your case, just helping google.

codegladiator··on Ask HN: What has your work taught you that other people don't realize?
Tools/tech don't fix people issues. Only process issues.
codegladiator··on A Typology of Organisational Cultures
I fail to see this in practice in any of the orgs i have worked. The bigger the orgs, more the number of these tools are involved, and still higher information hording/hiding.

Tools/tech just won't fix people issue.

codegladiator··on Deploy your side-projects at scale for basically nothing – Google Cloud Run

I am willing to bet there would be zero explanations along those lines.

I have Zephyrus gx531, ubuntu (dual boot with windows) works perfectly (had to hack nothing), so I assume it would most probably work smoothly on Zephyrus G14 as well

codegladiator··on State of JavaScript 2019
Fair enough, but I still think its a stretch to call MVC "outdated". And "outdated" kind of has a hint of "bad" and "should not be used", hence the question.
codegladiator··on State of JavaScript 2019
> The separations of Model, View, and Control really don't make sense anymore. It's outdated.

What ? why ? care to elaborate please ? and what do you use instead ? MVVM ?

codegladiator··on State of JavaScript 2019
I stay away from angular (I don't do react either, prefer vue as long as I have a choice) mainly because of major time I invested in angular 1 and then they completely ditched it and kept the same name.
codegladiator··on Minecraft diamond challenge leaves AI creators stumped

so 4 days to train their AI and not 4 days of training data.. on the data which was "60 million frames of recorded human player data"

Weak argument against Go ?

No

Let me know which language was perfect

That there is a proposal to work this out and relevant people are working on this makes a strong argument for go IMO.

codegladiator··on YouTube’s annoying Premium spam
I guess sure even with your calculation that is still a considerable expense while on youtube the user might be getting some money for their video
codegladiator··on YouTube’s annoying Premium spam
a 49 mb video watched a million times is 49 tb bandwidth.

1 tb bandwidth cost of aws is 236 usd a month.

you aren,t in control either in web or in paper. the only differnce in my opinion is that they track your view to other viewes..

> Freeloaders exist only because they are being subsidized by those who actually pay

Freeloaders exist because someone wanted to give something for free.

If someone put something online to be viewed freely and then expects some kind of return on it is hypocritical in my opinion. Just trying to make freeloaders look bad for their own lack of action to put it behind a paywall.

>>TV Broadcasters don’t get to force you to watch their ads, in fact skipping ads on broadcast tv is a big and legal market.

> That's because you already paid for it

Freeloaders already paid for the internet connection.

what is easy and inexpensive about that solution? that's easily the most inconvenient and expensive solution I have come across
codegladiator··on We're Incentivizing Bad Science
Partly the issue is because of the naming... Like "poor outcomes" and "failed"...

Obviously there would be no awards for the poor outcomes and failed results and we would be back to square one where no one is incentivized to look at them positively.

codegladiator··on Messages via JSON
Still didn't get the genius part,... This simply keeps polling a list of endpoint and if a new message Id comes, flashes it and stores in the list of flashed messages ? That's all right ?
codegladiator··on Messages via JSON
And who maintains the message queue until the client pools next(the service provided by these middle-man servers) ? And what about message by user identifier ?

And client app will eat my battery because one more service is constantly polling now ?

codegladiator··on Messages via JSON
What exactly is new in this ? Isn't this what Android and iOS notification services do ? And all messaging services ? What did I miss
