I don't see it this way. In plumbing I could have chosen to use 4" pipe throughout my house. I chose 3". Heck, I could have purchased commercial pipe that's 12", or even 36". It would have changed a lot of the design of my foundation.
Just because there is something much bigger and can handle a lot more poop, doesn't mean it's going to be useful for everyone.
It seems to me like taking care of business before that happens is a more beneficial thing.
In every industry right now there appear to be a lot of people running cover. I have a personal belief, with the exception of a few industries, 50% of managers are simply running cover. This is easy to explain:
1/ Nothing follows people
2/ Jobs were easy to get in the last 3 years (this is changing FAST)
3/ Rinse and repeat and stay low until you're caught.
In the end we have witnessed that we need stable inflation. If we have fast inflation, then unlimited numbers of people are left behind, for no fault of their own. If inflation is relatively stable, people can adjust slowly, carefully, and both companies and employees benefit from that.
We keep saying we need UBI but at the same time "we don't have enough homes". Then instead of UBI, maybe people should "make homes"? (That's just one example - there are also jobs in food, healthcare, mental illness care, spacecraft, etc...
In any case, the fix is in the ticket:
While the bug does still remain when using the CREATE INDEX syntax, you can use the following suitable workaround:
ALTER TABLE `TableName` ADD INDEX `idxColumnName` (`ColumnName`)
and it will leave your table case intact.
This is the real story:
