The use of supposed mental illness being used to discount any opposing belief is terrifying. Did you ever stop and consider that maybe empathizing in this situation is wrong?
Yep, pretty much hits the nail on the head. It’s not so much about empathy vs. feigning it for internet points. I can empathize with the situation in OP, but not in an outsized proportion to what’s occurred in society in the past few years. The same folks repping “empathy” were laughing to the bank when humans were locked in cages for getting around the vaccine mandate in their own way.
There’s people who were forced to sell their homes, lost their jobs, and can’t move back to the place they grew up right here on American soil - in layman’s terms, I’m out of f’s to give.
Ya, after watching the bodily reactions of family members that led up to death in some cases I’d never go out on a limb to get that shot for a dollar. But the “lived experience” crowd sure don’t want to hear about mine.
If you want to turbo optimize your life and give up caffeine so your body can absorb non-heme iron be my guest. It’s far simpler to eat as omnivores as humans were meant to be, especially with so many factors on the scale against your favor.
Being vegetarian is extremely unhealthy, drives the obesity epidemic, and is far more likely to cause individuals to become depressed. Good luck getting heme iron, carnitine, carnosine, taurine, creatine, B12, Vit D, and DHA in a meat free diet.
Culture seeps into toys, and firearms culture is back in a big way in America. I blame the federal assault weapon ban and 9/11 for popularizing the modern tactical firearm community.
This is what 18 USC 242 was written for. Allowing for punishments up to the death penalty for depravation of rights under the color of law. You’d need a federal government who would be willing to prosecute such a case however, but it’s possible.
I’ve got a life outside of work, working remotely tips the scales in my life’s favor. I can be whoever I wanna be, not just some dude getting bugged by my sandbagging coworker every 5 mins.
I’ve seen plenty of weird conversations in the workforce like leaders living in an alternate reality than direct reports to hawk their views, yet never felt motivated to call them mentally ill. I don’t judge how people feel they need to speak to relate to anybody, especially under the influence of alcohol as Kanye was in that segment.
This is a weird take. Most folks are old enough to remember the pre trump-era internet and society where alternating views were allowed and engaged with as opposed to leading to bans and social cancellation. Conflating that with allowing people to shove views in your face is odd, your ability to tune out is distinctly different from one’s ability to broadcast.
Yes. “Everyone I disagree with is crazy” is a real thing and disgusting. Reading a psychology book and a couple pop news articles doesn’t make these people psychiatrists or psychologists.
I’m pretty sure all you need is a free speech platform with a tiktok style algorithm that suppresses the grimiest of toxicity. Such a platform would blow every other one of the park and have a rush of content creators. I believe as those engagement algorithms become more accessible we’ll see a clear winner emerge.
Don’t forget that Nassau county, NY is now requesting that people who upgrade their pistol licenses pee in a cup to test for drugs. True insanity in NYS.
