colordrops··on The Hackintosh Reborn
Absolutely, Linux is now far superior to other commercial OSes when it comes to power users.
colordrops··on Jelly Sheet
I guess, but this isn't just some claude-kiddie, he's the creator of Three.js. it's like slamming Linus for using AI on the Linux kernel. He knows what he's doing.
colordrops··on Bones may release proteins that slow aging and extend life span
I don't know if any bodily phenomena are so easily explained. The insides of a single cell are insanely complex, and to try to apply a singular causal explanation to macro phenomena seems implausible.
colordrops··on The Exponential Time Hypothesis Is False [pdf]
I remember the olden days when LLMs couldn't count.
colordrops··on Lula wins election after final votes tallied
That's assuming no gerrymandering and funny business at the polls.
colordrops··on Cerebras Deploys Trillion-Parameter AI Models
Are the next generation of Cerebras chips designed by the current generation? Maybe it won't be recognizable as a particular layout but rather a chaotic but functional vibe layout.
colordrops··on How is music possible
For real, it's about the only thing that reliably causes ego dissolution and bliss for me. And I've spent decades with various meditation practices. Nothing beats music.
colordrops··on Local Wikipedia: Wikipedia, but only for things a half hour walk from you
Cool but I can't find any way to share a link to a particular location.
colordrops··on Lula supporters protest against Meta to denounce its 'electoral interference'
Coming at me, contradicting me, what ever you want to call it. "hallucinating" is a statement of fact. You just concocted false information out of nowhere, no different from an LLM. If being truthful is being a dick, so be it. If you had something else to say and the false statement was incidental, I could have been more lenient, but the entirety of your comment was just to contradict me, and wrongly at that.
colordrops··on Lula supporters protest against Meta to denounce its 'electoral interference'
Uh, you came at me first trying to prove me wrong, this thread is plain evidence for anyone still looking, which is unlikely.
colordrops··on Lula supporters protest against Meta to denounce its 'electoral interference'
Look up the definition of conspiracy (not criminal conspiracy, as you sneakily modified):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conspiracy

"A conspiracy, also known as a plot, ploy, or scheme, is a plan or agreement between people (called conspirers or conspirators) for an unlawful OR HARMFUL purpose, such as murder, treason, or corruption, especially with a political motivation,[2] while KEEPING THEIR AGREEMENT SECRET from the public or from other people affected by it"

colordrops··on Lula supporters protest against Meta to denounce its 'electoral interference'
No, that just isn't true. It's almost always used to indicate secret coordination, both in idiomatic usage and formal definitions.

And it doesn't have to be criminal. You are hallucinating more than a 2024 LLM.

colordrops··on Lula supporters protest against Meta to denounce its 'electoral interference'
Conspiracies are hidden. It's a confirmed fact that they banned his account during the election. This is no conspiracy - it's out in the open.
colordrops··on I Became a Citizen of Japan
Because it seems to have implemented many of the ideals and aesthetics that westerners cherish but fail to achieve.
colordrops··on Muse Spark Open
Qwen 3.8 flash next runs pretty damn fast on my 5090, no need for a b300.
colordrops··on New Apple TV 4K
> I can (reasonably) trust to not be mining my viewing habits for data

That's precisely what you did.

colordrops··on I guess I'm using WebP now?
Sure but there are also so many small open source projects that work with images too.
colordrops··on Whatever became of holography? (2011)
Seems fun but also no idea how that could be scaled or made to work in consumer products.
colordrops··on I guess I'm using WebP now?
Yeah it's purely the fault of the tens of thousands of application devs that have been too stupid to recognize the obvious and immense benefits of webp over existing widely adopted formats /s
colordrops··on LineageOS 24
I think every device is supported by different people rather than a single org which is maybe why they don't feature some devices.
colordrops··on Lobbying
Yes that's correct
colordrops··on Telegram Desktop vulnerability allowed any user's file to be stolen
well duh
colordrops··on Lobbying
Explicitly allowing payments with lobbying is more rare.
colordrops··on Lobbying
Right? Europe has lobbying without payments, as that's called what it is there: bribery.
colordrops··on Triple-A Minesweeper
First time I've laughed out loud at one of these sorts of things in a while...

I was expecting it to open up on some WW2 style battlefield with smoke and explosions, but this was better.

colordrops··on I hired an illustrator to draw my house. Now it's my Home Assistant dashboard
That would probably be better suited with a vision model of some sort or some other model specifically trained on the task at hand. It's not a problem with AI in general but rather using a general AI for a special use case.
colordrops··on “Math 2.0” will need to value mathematical progress more holistically
Who is this "we" you speak of? The professional mathematician community? Were pre-AI results useful outside of this community of people who could understand them?
colordrops··on GPT‑6 and Intelligent UI for everyone
"why do I need an Nvidia B300 to render the same webpage that ran fine on my Pentium with Windows 98?"
colordrops··on Paramount Skydance has completed its $111B merger with Warner Bros. Discovery
Yeah but it's not just the Taliban, which is absurd.
colordrops··on Paramount Skydance has completed its $111B merger with Warner Bros. Discovery
Apparently you haven't listened to his discussions on the topic. He says no such thing.
