conanthe··on Ask HN: Go-to web stack today?
Rails is hard-core to maintain. Every company I know that used rails for their projects says it was a mistake. It is flaky with breaking changes all over and it is hard to find good developers. Sane thing to do is to stick with Python. Django is boring but it is rock solid and it pays itself multiple times.

Kratom / Cannabis oh wait these are illegal so big pharma can milk their poisons.
conanthe··on Inter UI, a typeface designed for user interfaces
I am split. This font is amazing - finally a better alternative to Helvetica, but wouldn't be better if they have used their energy on improving their CPUs?
conanthe··on PayPal has permanently banned The Hacker News and hold funds for 180 days
What free market are you talking about? There is no free market in the financial sector. Everything is regulated and licensed.

What are the alternatives?
conanthe··on Ask HN: Famous anonymous inventions other than Bitcoin?
Capitalism.

conanthe··on The Ant Design Christmas Egg That Went Wrong
What reaction someone expected by shoving their religion down the throat of the users? This is so sad.

conanthe··on My one-liner Linux Dropbox client
If you run a project off a Dropbox directory you would want .env and similar files excluded. You don't want someone to get your AWS keys?
conanthe··on My one-liner Linux Dropbox client
Dropbox is a no no for one simple reason - there is no end to end encryption. Unless I don't know something? I wouldn't want a disgruntled employee to fiddle with my files.

conanthe··on Keyboardio Kickstarter Day 1278: A startling discovery
I wouldn't be surprised if the "owner" was on it together with the account manager or that other dodgy things are going on that would have been discovered by LE.
conanthe··on Netflix’s Movie Blitz Takes Aim at Hollywood’s Heart
This is amazing. TV is a second best thief of time. You should be happy you have time to do other stuff.
conanthe··on Poland in the 80's Through the Lens of French/Swiss Photographer Bruno Barbey
The truth is that they were infiltrated by the Germans and the US - they were not fighting for independence but to find new rulers.

As the "Right wing" you mean national socialists - who want socialism only for a given group of people.

True right (as in Libertarians) was ridiculed by the likes of Michnik.

conanthe··on Poland in the 80's Through the Lens of French/Swiss Photographer Bruno Barbey
Well put my friend
conanthe··on Poland in the 80's Through the Lens of French/Swiss Photographer Bruno Barbey
This is wrong. "Solidarnosc" was more socialist than the ruling party! This common misconception. If you read their manifesto, you can see they wanted even more socialism. That movement was only about taking over. In 1988 communists started capitalist reforms similar to China, but fall of the Soviet Union gave politicians coming from the Solidarnosc a chance. First thing they did was reversing the free market reforms and moving Poland to be a socialist utopia it is today and wasting huge potential.
conanthe··on Windows Server 2019 Includes OpenSSH
I was referring to this Windows in general.
conanthe··on Windows Server 2019 Includes OpenSSH
Back then they didn't believe they can make money off the open source. Now they are picking the fruits of the others labour.
conanthe··on Windows Server 2019 Includes OpenSSH
Maybe you wouldn't do anything with it but there are smart people out there who could and bring profits.
conanthe··on Windows Server 2019 Includes OpenSSH
They can browse your private projects though so nobody in the right mind would use them to run cutting edge business.
conanthe··on Windows Server 2019 Includes OpenSSH
If you have money you can be a leader of anything, but without heart and motivated by greed are you really?

I would be more interested about spying. Does it spy? Call home? How safe is corporate data on that system? Can I audit the source code?
conanthe··on Ask HN: How do you manage UI/UX for your side projects?

conanthe··on AMD’s aggressive pricing update on the EPYC 7371
For realtime audio processing Intel still bears the crown. Hopefully AMD will get closer so that Intel get on improving.

conanthe··on Thieves boosting signal from key fobs inside homes to steal vehicles
The same way as MFA works. Every time the key generates different token that can't be reused. This renders replay of signal useless.
conanthe··on Thieves boosting signal from key fobs inside homes to steal vehicles
It seems like this is easy to do with cryptography. Sounds like a gross negligence on the car makers part, similar to storing passwords in plain text.
