If you're a large project, companies generally get more value paying for SaaS and letting devs do dev, rather than troubleshooting Jenkins for the billionth time.
The real value self-host brings is somewhere in the middle, where you need paid-level features with 0 fiat (and can pay in time instead).
I think GitHub was rolling everything themselves when Microsoft bought them. Ever since, MS has been working to strategically shift to Azure but that's a difficult and careful process that takes time.
In the meantime, the AI boom hit and usage went through the roof, crippling aging non-scaled infrastructure that hasn't had a chance to be modernized yet.
A lot of issues might very well be "we broke something while migrating", but I think a lot are also simply capacity issues on legacy.
Garbage in, garbage out still applies.
I've seen way more human comments of "I don't know what this does but if I remove it everything breaks" in systems.
For what it's worth, everything seems fixed today.
I'm self-limited to 1G because what supports 2.5G these days? Not my equipment.
- Small
- Cheap (I wouldn't consider $99 cheap, but it's better)
- Seamless switch between power and battery
I've thrown a small battery pack on before but the battery wouldn't charge and serve at the same time.
In my opinion its too fuzzy, which is usually the opposite problem I have with website searches (e.g. searching a news site for keywords of an article I know exits, but it's taking me too literally)
If I search for "iPhone 14 Pro case", I don't want to see cases for iPhone 15 __, or non-pro models. I've (to my own fault) bought way too many of the wrong product because I search for a specific model and don't read the title before ordering, only to realize that Amazon didn't give me exactly what I typed in.
