crazysaem··on FlexBox Cheatsheet
The flexbugs repository is also a good resource for browser specific flexbox issues: https://github.com/philipwalton/flexbugs
crazysaem··on Cortana available on iOS and Android
For me it was the same, but the cause was that the region was set to Germany. So language English, region Germany. After I set the region to the US, I was able to turn on Cortana. //Edit: The reason is probably because of what Maarten88 said.
crazysaem··on Why Do Colleges Give Honorary Degrees?
Did you mean "Du vs Sie"? If not, what do you mean with "Tu"? I've never heard of that.
crazysaem··on Windows 10 Free Upgrade Available in 190 Countries Today
You have the option to either create the USB/CD media or do an in-place upgrade. I did the in-place upgrade, which worked without problems for me. They also provide the option to either keep your apps and files or delete them. I chose to delete them, because I wanted a clean install.
crazysaem··on Windows 10 Free Upgrade Available in 190 Countries Today
I can confirm that. I didn't see anything about Windows 10 in the Windows Update window, but upgrading via the tool worked perfectly for me.
crazysaem··on Windows 10 Free Upgrade Available in 190 Countries Today
The Windows 10 Installation media creation tool is also already out: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
crazysaem··on Elm's Time-Traveling Debugger
Yes, it was added in 13.1. And only in the Ultimate version, as you mentioned. http://blog.jetbrains.com/idea/2014/03/try-chronon-debugger-...

crazysaem··on Show HN: Life – A timeline of important events in (your) life
Maybe a hybrid approach could work? Automatically scroll down and to the right simultaneously. If I understood it correctly, the events in the timeline will go diagonally down. So if the scrolling happens intelligently by following the events, that should work, shouldn’t it?
crazysaem··on Why YouTube buffers: The secret deals that make and break online video
Video-DownloadHelper[0] is also a good choice if you need to download videos often, and from different sources (e.g. blip.tv). However, it only works with Firefox. Jdownloader can also download Youtube Videos (and many others).

crazysaem··on Amazon Unpacked
Similar stories like this were in the news in germany as well, a few month back, after a documentation of the ARD about working conditions in the Amazon warehouses.

crazysaem··on I understood gender discrimination once I added “Mr.” to my resume
I am graduating in a few month and also applied for some jobs in the USA (I'm from germany). I found it somewhat intresting that every employer I sent my resume to was asking what gender and race(!) I was before I could submit. You could also choose the option not to give an answer, but I have never seen that in germany.

On the other hand some people on HN find it odd to have a picture of you on your CV - which is the norm here.

crazysaem··on DemoJS, the web demoparty, is back this weekend in Paris
I'd really like to hear that talk. Will there be a Video/Audio recording for people who didn't attend?
crazysaem··on DemoJS, the web demoparty, is back this weekend in Paris
At JS1K http://js1k.com/ are also some great JavaScript demos
crazysaem··on Best Emulators (NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, and more)
On http://www.aep-emu.de/emus.html is a pretty good list of common emulators sorted by platform.

(Language of the site is german, but that shouldn't be a problem)

crazysaem··on Show HN: Learn English with movies and TV Shows
You could also try http://board.tv4user.de/ for german subtitles of many US/UK TV Shows. It's made for german users who understand little english but still want to see shows as soon as they come out (So the site itself is in german, but finding shows shouldn't be hard). The community is pretty great and very fast when a new episode comes out.
crazysaem··on Show HN: Learn English with movies and TV Shows
Great idea - It seems a lot of people already use TV Shows/Movies to learn English, as did I.

This reminded me when I was re-watching a few of my favorite TV Shows, were the Dub/Sub transitions as following from early to later seasons:

1) German Dub – No Subtitles

2) English Dub – German Subtitles

3) English Dub – English Subtitles

4) English Dub – No Subtitles

Interestingly I moved away from German and to English for most of the media I consume and watching German TV at a friend’s house actually sounds really foreign to me now.

crazysaem··on Google 'kerning' easter egg
"search?hl=en" is also needed for the original link, if you are living in e.g. germany. The easter eggs seem to only display on "www.google.com".

crazysaem··on Google Code Jam 2013
I didn't get this error here, however I recieved the exact same error when I used my german "..@googlemail.com" mail address to register on appengine. After changing it to "..@gmail.com" it worked. If you are german, you could try that as well.
crazysaem··on Simple Minecraft Clone in 580 lines of Python
I think its most impressive to actually run the demos themselves. On this site are some good examples: http://awards.scene.org/archive.php?year=2011&cat=9

Edit: It would be intresting to see demos like this (4KB / 64KB) for WebGL. Does something like this exist already ?

crazysaem··on An apology to open source
Well in the contract with my current employer, it pretty much states that every IP I create during my employment belongs to my employer. So if I wanted to create a project that I own, I would have to terminate my contract first. This is especially annoying being a Student and having many ideas all the time. Oh well.
crazysaem··on How to Fold a Julia Fractal
I did so as well. I was fascinated that such a simple formula could produce an infinitely complex image. To build it, I used Lazarus/Freepascal and Wikipedia. It’s actually still hosted on Google code.
crazysaem··on Young People Are Screwed: Here's How To Survive
I'm wondering how this article compares to other countries. In Germany you don’t necessarily need to pay expensive medical bills, and Universities have either no fee at all, or a very small one (500 € per Semester usually).

So after getting a Bachelor’s degree, you can be pretty much debt free.

Is this then only a problem for the USA?

crazysaem··on Codecademy introduces API lessons with YouTube, SoundCloud, Parse, and more
It seems like you really enjoy Ruby, that’s great to hear. I just started CS169.1x on edx, which will be using ruby as the language of choice, and have never touched ruby. (Except in the stripe ctf where I did not fully understand the code, just enough to progress to the next levels.) Now I'm even more excited to learn ruby!
