cvak··on Coding is not solved
> back up to the design/spec level and rework the definition to account for it.

> his doesn't normally get done because it takes longer and it is conceptually more difficult than the patch.

This usually isn't done, because design/spec no longer exists.

cvak··on Docker Sandboxes – Disposable, isolated sandboxes for AI agents
yeah, I actually just re-use claude-code .devcontainer: https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/tree/main/.devcont...

I especially like the firewall it has.

cvak··on Show HN: Run an 80B Qwen in 4.3 GB of RAM on a Mac, and a 35B on an iPhone
we are not at 2nm, we just call it that.
cvak··on Apple is getting this wrong
I suppose this is harder when the company hosts everything in icloud though...
cvak··on Ten advances in mathematics and theoretical computer science
In what sense?
cvak··on Is Meta destroying its engineering organization?
I have a friend that did that, in a 4y stint there, and was happy to get to one of the layoffs phase. He was fairly lucky with the stock price RSUs vs stock price(though he knew a few that were so lucky that their 100k RSUs grant at sign got to like 800k, not that lucky, but yeah, his 4 years of flying to office made him basically "I can retire whenever I please to".

Most of developers don't understand what opportunity they got into to be highly paid eng with RSUs. My friend is managing 500 people in a factory and gets salary that everyone would laugh at here...

cvak··on John Ternus to become Apple CEO
tbf google maps are absolutely shit for car navigation.
cvak··on Axios compromised on NPM – Malicious versions drop remote access trojan
ok, it works, only the list function shows it as null...
cvak··on Axios compromised on NPM – Malicious versions drop remote access trojan
I think the npm doesn't support end of line comments, so

  ~/.npmrc
  min-release-age=7 # days
actually doesn't set it at all, please edit your comment.

EDIT: Actually maybe it does? But it's weird because

`npm config list -l` shows: `min-release-age = null` with, and without the comment. so who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

cvak··on After outages, Amazon to make senior engineers sign off on AI-assisted changes
TBH, I do PRs on repos with no other devs just do do self-review, and I did that before AI.
cvak··on Nokia N900 Necromancy
yeah I scooped n950 on some online marketplace for very cheap since it was bricked, fixed it and resold it for profit, but what a beauty of a phone, I wish I kept it.
cvak··on Scripts I wrote that I use all the time
I moved away from 1000 lines .zshrc when I had to do stuff on linux VMs/dockers and I was lost a lot. But you zsh-autosuggestions, and fzf-tab is not going anywhere.
cvak··on Postman which I thought worked locally on my computer, is down
I used to use postman, before they become greedy, now I use Bruno.

But to your question - I have saved based authenticated request to our company useful APIs - github/jira/artifactory - so when I want to string together some micro tool to do something in batch, I don't have to remember where do I create API key, and how do they accept it.

cvak··on Why Romania excels in international Olympiads
Funny how somehow in discussions in our country I always have to defend that sorting students is a good thing. A lot of people argue, that best student in average classes will still be great, and will lift the others, from my experience that is not true.
cvak··on The Demoralization is just Beginning
even the first picture is not correct so not reading all of that

cvak··on Google releases smart watch for kids
They are selling "dump phone" in form of a watch nowdays, really thinking of getting one for exact same usecase.
cvak··on Notepad Tab
Unfortunately this doesn't work on FF due to security Uncaught NS_ERROR_FAILURE
cvak··on Notepad Tab
Very cool, you are replacing my longest time bookmark bar bookmark of data:text/html, <html contenteditable>
cvak··on Phind-70B: Closing the code quality gap with GPT-4 Turbo while running 4x faster
do you just run it from https://github.com/deepseek-ai/DeepSeek-Coder ?
cvak··on Cloudflare employee posts layoff call with HR and goes viral [video]
Making them? Sure. Sharing them on chinese owned social network? I'd be very very surprised.
cvak··on Cloudflare employee posts layoff call with HR and goes viral [video]
To me it sounds like excelent video for making a legal case againts Britanny, I'd be very upset if someone would be secretly recording a meeting with me as a HR person. Guess that depends on a state, but good luck finding another corporate job.
cvak··on Baldur's Gate 3 Wins Game of the Year at the Game Awards
God of War?
cvak··on Turbo Pascal Turns 40

cvak··on 'Energy independent' Uruguay runs on 100% renewables for four straight months

cvak··on Show HN: Inshellisense – IDE style shell autocomplete
Fig.io with no account and calling home, count me in.
cvak··on Organic Maps
there is import GPX feature when you sign in, I use it quite often.
cvak··on Ask HN: Why did Python win?
I've spent year and a half writing chef as my first "programming" job, like 6 years ago. I learned almost 0 ruby, and that's probably why ruby didn't stick that much.
cvak··on Threads has passed 2M sign ups in the first 2 hours
Because Google killed it, because it was not for normal people, my circles were mainly developers/researches. Normal people were already on fb and didn't see any value of trying something else.
cvak··on Why yewtu.be was down: Data loss after being shut down by Oracle Cloud
Same here, it's the only subscription I pay for, worth it imo.
