dadjoker··on AI Fortunes Are Reviving an Old Debate About Private Power
Yes, because communism has always worked out so well in the past.
dadjoker··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (February 2026)
Location: Portland,OR Remote: Yes Willing to relocate: no Technologies: PHP, Drupal, Laravel, MySQL, MongoDB, JavaScript, VueJS HTML,CSS, AWS Résumé/CV:https://linkedin.com/in/wonder95 Email: steve at smgaweb.com

I have been in IT since 1995, doing full time web development since 2009. In addition to writing code, I have done a decent amount of managing infrastructure such as AWS servers/services, MongoDB atlas, and other enterprise level tools. I would love to move more into a devrel type position, where I can leverage my teaching and training skills to help others learn about coding.

dadjoker··on Risk of Dementia in People with ER Visits or Hospitalizations Due to Cannabis
"Hey, let's legalize marijuana. What could possibly go wrong?"
dadjoker··on Court finds Greenpeace liable in case over Dakota Access Pipeline
Baloney. Greenpeace got what it deserved. I loved the fact that the punitive damages were doubled by the jury. To see them wreak violence and destruction and then whine about the freedom of protest being lost is hysterical. The jury of those harmed by their actions saw through everything and gave them what they deserved.
dadjoker··on How the NY Times undermined mask evidence – Scientists were smeared (2024)
Heh, quoting Wikipedia and its sources isn't the win you think it is. As usual, it's always making someone who dared to criticize the COVID "vaccines" as if they oppose all real, working vaccines and then labeling them an "anti-vaxxer".

Did you even bother to read the article and the actual emails it quoted?

dadjoker··on The United States of Abortion Mazes
Heh, the only place where "care" results in the death of a human being.
dadjoker··on A third of Americans agree with Trump that immigrants 'poison the blood' of US
Because Tren de Agua is really building the country up and enhancing it...
dadjoker··on Amazon, Tesla and Meta among top companies undermining democracy
What a joke. Nothing but "union busting" this, "anti-climate" that, and "far right" that (where "far right" = "anything to the right of Marx"). No mentions of the destruction wrought by left and far left policies, including climate change fear mongering and the destruction wrought by "green" policies.

All written by a union group. Tells you everything you need to know.

dadjoker··on Weight loss drugs(Ozempic and Wegovy) cut Covid-19 deaths, study finds
Well, yeah, it makes sense, since the obese and diabetic were the most vulnerable to COVID.
dadjoker··on Portraits of insects reveal the intricacies of a world
The intricacy of the design in these insects is absolutely amazing.
dadjoker··on MIT's first freshman class since affirmative-action ban is less diverse
So what?
dadjoker··on High school shuts down its library because of book-banning state law
What a misleading title. It gives the impression that it was permanently shut down, when the truth is otherwise:

"... a spokesperson for Green Hill High School confirmed that the school has closed its library ahead of the 2024–2025 school year to sort through its entire collection of books to ensure that they are in compliance with H.B. 843, which went into effect on July 1."

dadjoker··on Homebound: The Long-Term Rise in Time Spent at Home Among U.S. Adults
"The changes in daily life induced by the COVID-19 pandemic brought renewed attention to longstanding concerns about social isolation in the United States."

Sigh, once again, it's wasn't COVID19 itself; it was the paranoid, destructive over-reaction that forced isolation that caused this.

dadjoker··on Fed-up New Zealanders are flocking to Australia for better pay
From one COVID tyranny to another...
dadjoker··on Any good books on why Trump has so much support in America?
Yeah, that whole secure southern border, lower taxes, no new wars, new peace deals signed (Abraham Accords), much better economy (1.4% inflation) would be terrible...

The better question would be, considering the wreckage of the past 3 1.2 years, why would anyone vote against their own best interests and vote Democrat?

dadjoker··on Venezuela wants to end a dictatorship via Open Sourcing their elections
Heh, considering their recent elections rigging by Maduro, democracy doesn't really seem to be an option in Venezuela these days.
dadjoker··on Four hottest days ever observed raise fears of a planet nearing 'tipping points'
Let the hype and fear mongering continue....
dadjoker··on Joe Biden stands down as Democratic candidate
You say that like it’s a good thing.
dadjoker··on Has anyone moved from full stack development to Data Engineering?
Yea, a guy named David Neal (@reverentgeek) was a full stack dev, who now does data engineering.

He also taught himself to draw, and is really good at it.

dadjoker··on Japan wants to build a cargo conveyor belt because it’s running out of drivers
Welcome to the reality of not bearing enough children.
dadjoker··on Bureau of Land Mgt Blocks Industrial Corridor Through Alaska's Brooks Range
Heck it's the Biden Administration, so at least they're consistent with how their boss behaved in the debate the other night.

Who needs a functioning economy anyway?

dadjoker··on Supreme Court overturns 40-year-old "Chevron deference" doctrine
Wow, truly amazing all the people in here who are perfectly content to let unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats make one "rule" after another because it makes them feel like they're doing their jobs, only increasing the regulatory burden on everyday Americans. So sad how many people prefer an oppressive regulatory government over the freedoms and liberties America was founded on.
dadjoker··on Supreme Court overturns 40-year-old "Chevron deference" doctrine
Aws compared to the unelected and unaccountable "expert" bureaucrats making arbitrary rules that do things like penalize you for collection rainwater on your own property?
dadjoker··on Anthony Fauci: The First Three Months of the Pandemic
I don't have a subscription, but I can only manage the pure lies and self aggrandizement in that article.
dadjoker··on Next pandemic may be just around the corner; must be prepared for the unexpected
Let the fear mongering begin....
dadjoker··on A Bill to Abolish the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System [pdf]
Why? Ever since the Fed was created - to supposedly avoid the problems that created the Great Depression - they have polluted the buying power of the dollar to where it is much less than it was pre-Fed.
dadjoker··on A 50 year old medication may halt the rise in syphilis and chlamydia
Or people could just stop sleeping around and having "high risk contacts", but that would require self-control, which is apparently too much to ask.
dadjoker··on Nearly 80% of Americans Say Fast Food Is Now a Luxury
Rampant inflation caused by inept politicians will do that
dadjoker··on Google blocked news searchs of 'manheim' and 'stabbing'
And this surprises you about Google - why? They have censored conservative sites and results for years.
dadjoker··on Oceans suffer from record-breaking year of heat
Yes, El Nino is a natural phenomenon. And the earth has been warmer than it is now in the past, amazingly before the Industrial Revolution.
