darkoob12··on ChatGPT is adding real cartoonists' signatures to fake New Yorker cartoons
If Adobe doing it automatically by default and the user that shares it has no idea then yes.

They could have fixed this if they cared.

darkoob12··on Context Language Models
Did they just rename their AI lab to superinterlligence lab!!

It is pathetic

darkoob12··on Pentagon says overreliance on AI contributed to missile strike on Iran school
To my view Iran government is responsible like 50% for turning part of a military compund into a school. That was irresponsible and shows how little they care about the life of their citizens.
darkoob12··on Why MCP Was Always a Bad Idea
There are numerous applications that you don't need and don't want to give shell access to an llm.
darkoob12··on The Gemini app is now available for Windows
Is it still gemini 3.6? It's crazy that i still have 3.6 and if you want 3.8 you need to use API.
darkoob12··on DeepSeek launching v4.1 flash cheaper and more capable than v4 pro
My mental bias always kept me away from Chinese models. Because i know that china is a surveillance state and all the things we know about CCP. But after what we learned about OpenAI and how they most likely used user data to basically cheat in an open competition i think it does not matter which AI provider you use all of them will own your data and all of them can spy on you. So I am willing to switch to Chinese models. This way we help them develop and improve models some day we can run them locally.
darkoob12··on Grok 4.6 scores 61 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index
then why did you spent 30 billion on stupid Iran war?
darkoob12··on Grok 4.6 scores 61 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index

darkoob12··on Grok 4.6 scores 61 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index
It does. I believe he is one of the worst people and contributed to misery of humanity. I had nothing against him until he dismantled USAID. The richest man in the world did not go to a party on weekend to make sure that poorest men on the world have less help. He was basically on the side of HIV. So i never use his products.

Beside don't read too much in to benchmarks. They are alrrady ruined by Goldhart principle. Tgese models have already seen most of the data.

darkoob12··on I'm switching my phone from Android to Linux
We are hooked to Google/Apple platforms by our banks and some government services.
darkoob12··on Changes at Google DeepMind: Demis Hassabis from CEO to Chair, Jeff Dean departs
I actually use Claude for finding stuff and recommendations. like "Find me a decent shoe with blah blah conditions" this query now goes to LLM Chat instead of google search. I use google search to find the url of something that i know exists like find the website of a company or finding address of a store.
darkoob12··on The Vanishing Page: AI Firms Scan Then Destroy Rare Book Editions
Why don't they rebind them and put it back in some library? They don't have to throw it out.
darkoob12··on Run Kimi K3 using 29 GB of RAM at 0.50 tok/s
One thing about local llm projects is that they don't mention the maximum context length which for this project is 4k. I think for it to be used with a harness you need at least 200k and reliable tool calling and structured output which obviously degrade at high quantizations.
darkoob12··on A shell colon does nothing. Use it anyway
I always wanted to learn more about scripting. But today I am not as passionate as before because LLMs write working scripts most of the time. I am wondering if it is true for most programming techniques and quirks. Are we going to write code to solve low level problems?

The other day there was a blog post about learning SIMD. I think in future "programmers" will just nag about the speed of the program and the coding assistant will eventually introduce SIMD to the source code.

It is a little sad but we have to go with the current if we want to survive.

darkoob12··on The Kimi K3 Moment
Volume is up because AI generation help writing papers. We should find a better measure of impact. I like to see the same charts on best paper awards.
darkoob12··on The Kimi K3 Moment
There are huge evidence of copying.

Some day China can pioneer in science or technology but the current claim about Chinese companies leading AI development is ridiculous given the evidence of distillation and the fact that like 95 percent of science that lead to the current state of AI happened in either North America or Europe.

To be honest if you want to list academic papers that lead to the current AI models the majority is either done by Google Research or sponsored by Google.

darkoob12··on Kimi K3: Open Frontier Intelligence
Benchmarks are meaningless. You can beat any model on any benchmark with the right training.
darkoob12··on DSpark: Speculative decoding accelerates LLM inference [pdf]
Check recent iclr acl icml neurips you will see 10-20 papers from Google Research which are not just simple model cards. they are solid reproducible research.
darkoob12··on DSpark: Speculative decoding accelerates LLM inference [pdf]
Google and Microsoft publish more than enough and American universities are publishing the science beyond DeepSeek's engineering. That fact that you don't know about them means you're not following the science only reading hacker news.
darkoob12··on VibeThinker: 3B param model that beats Opus 4.5 on reasoning with novel SFT+GRPO
I still cannot trust evaluations and benchmarks. How can you prove that the test datasets are truly unseen examples?

I think the only way to prove that these models are truly as good as they claim is to wait and see if they are getting adopted in practice.

darkoob12··on Kimi K2.6 just beat Claude, GPT-5.5, and Gemini in a coding challenge
It doesn't mean only Chinese companies are contributing. Take TurboQuant, a serious theoretical paper not just GPU optimization, it was google research as the original transformers as MoE and many other techniques we use daily in deep learning as for libraries like TensorFlow which were pivotal to fast development of AI
darkoob12··on Kimi K2.6 just beat Claude, GPT-5.5, and Gemini in a coding challenge
Can you name some tangible AI idea that came out of Chinese labs?

I can name thousands that came out western universities.

I see a lot of rhetoric that only the Chinese labs are contributing to AI while companies like Google and Microsoft are still pulishing their research.

Unfortunately the domain of scientific papers is cluttered with AI slop but still occasional serious paper that i find are from western labs particularly Google Research or Microsoft Research

darkoob12··on US and Iran agree to provisional ceasefire
The Islamic regem lost all its legitimacy in Jan. Even some loyalist where angry at them but they gain support of part of the people and found a reason to exist as the defender of the country.

They will survive and become stronger particularly if they get an economic lifeline out of this peace deal.

darkoob12··on Artemis II crew take “spectacular” image of Earth
Shouldn't we see satellites around earth? Like in Wall-E :)
darkoob12··on AI got the blame for the Iran school bombing. The truth is more worrying
With exception of embassies, most of what you mentioned are military targets and those proxies are native citizens who are attacking hostile aliens. When you send soldiers to other countries what do you expect?

Why US has military presence in every other country? Be more MAGA

darkoob12··on Shall I implement it? No
This is not Claude Code. And my experience is the opposite. For me Codex is not working at all to the point that it's not better than asking the chat bot in the browser.
darkoob12··on uBlock filter list to hide all YouTube Shorts
It's just the most horrible thing. The whole idea of YouTube for me was to control what you watch in comparison to traditional TV where they fed you what they wanted. I know people say that you should not click on it but we all how low times in our day that we have exhausted our brain.
darkoob12··on An AI agent published a hit piece on me
I think there are two scenarios and one of them is boring. If the owner of the agent created it with a prompt like "I want 10 merged pull requests in these repositories WHAT EVER IT TAKES" and left the agent unattended, this is very serious and at the same time interesting. But, if the owner of the agent is guiding the agent via message app or instructed the agent in the prompt to write such a weblog this is just old news.
darkoob12··on Apple picks Gemini to power Siri
Please forget Oracle. I don't even know the name of their cloud service. I haven't heard anyone using their service for AI.
darkoob12··on After ruining a treasured water resource, Iran is drying up
Back then they said Tehran will go out of water if there is no rain in coming weeks and it is raining in Tehran, now. Also they rationed water for a few weeks. Many regions of Tehran only had water during the night.
