Great for a personal blog but for a business where your customers expect things instantly, it is not so good.
The thing that I love about this setup is having the original Excel document sat there on the skydrive ready to be edited in the full Excel when more advanced editing is required and seamlessly updated on the web (although not at the same time, which is something I hope will be possible in the future).
I prefer to do as much without debugger and then when I need to inspect variables and step through code drop into debug mode.
With Python this may be different but I doubt it. I expect you will have to wait while the debugger loads up. If you can edit code whilst debugger is running then I can see that being a big plus and a reason to keep it on.
I wonder if they kept the default layout to keep it as simple and "out of the box" as they can in order not to confuse newcomers to the Visual Studio way of doing things.
I haven't used windows 8 so I don't know if it feels like a disaster to use on a desktop but I am hoping and assuming once I get used to not having a start button I will be quite happy using it and will love jumping into RT for the more funky fun stuff.
I must admit I also miss from Google the define: word but these little things are not enough for me to ever go back to Google!
*though my written skills are poor so it is like the pot calling the kettle black!
My personal choices would be a city along one of the major rail routes into London or one of the major University cities. So they would be Bath, Bristol, Oxford, Cambridge and perhaps Birmingham / Warwick. In fact most of these cities have their own start up friendly environments that are linked with the universities and plenty of VC and PE firms in those cities. All of which are less expensive and much more welcoming and friendly places to be, less ego too!
My biggest issue with VS2010 is the amount of memory it consumes. I hope they do something about that or some how let me disable functionality that I don’t need so I can reduce the footprint.
Some of the icons in the screenshots do in my mind look to be an improvement whilst others are so totally different that I am sure will frustrate the hell out of me until I have adjusted.
I know those screenshots are to show off as many widgets as possible but is it useful to show the tool with about 10% screen real estate dedicated to actual code.
