denverllc··on Major Investors Are Skeptical Anthropic IPO Can Achieve $1.5T Valuation
What you’re describing is a stochastic process, and that’s not how stochastic processes work at all.
denverllc··on Major Investors Are Skeptical Anthropic IPO Can Achieve $1.5T Valuation
Being a specialized firm might work if they didn’t have $700 bn in commitments.

Already they have exclusive deals with trading firms who pay $$$ for faster models and more features. But there are only so many firms who will pay that much (and a lot of companies are pulling back on spend, not increasing it)

I don’t trust anything made by DHH now. He merged a PR that rewrote ttfx from rust to Claude generated asm (despite contributor objections) and then turned around and merged another that rewrote all of that into rust.

Which is to say that a normal organization would not be changing things so quickly based on the whims of a single individual.

Maybe I’d be ok to use omarchy just for fun, but could never use it seriously in any capacity.

denverllc··on OpenAI fired its own auditor before its revenue story shrank by $20B
This needs an editor.
denverllc··on The gap in shared understanding of LLM capability is widening
I’m not sure I agree that g explains all model capabilities. I think “claudespeak” is a consequence of the shift from training on RLHF to training on verifiable rewards. Thus the models seem to become worse at storytelling, fiction, readability, not better.

Even if we do accept that models have some “g” and that it correlates with all domains, there’s no reason to think that the current trajectory of LLM intelligence will grow more quickly or even as quickly. In every other technology we have an early period of slow growth during experimentation, and then a rapid period of growth, and then stagnation.

For all we know, 2026 could be the year of stagnation. It’s possible that we will reach finishing returns. If thats true, then it won’t matter how much that task correlates with overall g, because g won’t be increasing that much.

denverllc··on Typesafe AI raises $870M at $7.5B
> but I question how much folks are actually experimenting with what's out there

I did. Originally I had a project that I had been wanting to do and thought to use a decision model for it. Jev, OpenAI, etc. are all within percentage points of each other.

Then I used traditional ML and found a small classifier (gemma 4) with traditional embeddings worked 2x as well.

Jev is the general purpose ML pipeline for when you want average results. Nearly every application has a "better" option available with a small amount of work.

denverllc··on Typesafe AI raises $870M at $7.5B
Anthropic's Series A was $124 million; Typesafe's is 7x that. If Jev becomes a $2bn company it will be a failure to investors.
denverllc··on Typesafe AI raises $870M at $7.5B
Yes, it's astroturfed everywhere (like X and reddit).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNgQtzEl4lY

Jev is used as an example of a successful marketing launch where they worked with many X "creators" prior to its release, so that all the creators would repost to put it to the top of everyone's feed. Then, over the following days they'd repost so it maintained momentum.

See: doomers.ai, clickstrike, growth matrix, etc. They use coordinated engagement, paid influencer networks, customized messaging, etc.

Jev isn't a terrible product, but it's way overhyped.

denverllc··on David Sacks: OpenAI and Anthropic Don't Need Regulations to Pace Frontier Models
They don't want FDA, they want FINRA. Basically an organization that can rubber stamp them and create regulatory headaches for others.

FDA is just way too much red tape.

denverllc··on Garry Tan wants US open-weight AI labs to 'distill' frontier models, too
> Inference is not being subsidized and in fact has pretty high margins.

1. Companies are trying to decrease costs, not increase it, and are looking at alternatives

2. Competitors are catching up, and even if the frontier labs are "better" at some things (like writing plans or complicated analysis), the competitors can take a lot of the inference on routine tasks like implementing a well-defined plan

3. The frontier labs don't just need to have high margins right now. They have to pay back their massive liabilities.

denverllc··on Measuring the sloppiness of code
Astra does exactly the same sort of things that Sol or any of the previous agents do. They duplicate code, overengineer, miss the point, etc.

I was very optimistic about it when it was announced and saw all the demos, but a week later I find it only marginally better (and in some cases worse) than before.

denverllc··on Amazon pilots ad services in ChatGPT
Right now it’s only for the free tier, but given the recent trends I imagine it will make its way to paid tiers.

Just consider how even paid streaming services are bringing in ads, or how TVs were caught using ACR to spy on us.

denverllc··on On the Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize Problem
> This drama is about AI achieving impressive outcomes with little to no human intervention

That's not at all what the drama is.

denverllc··on On the Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize Problem
> Why the rage?

I think it's the dishonesty, the threats of "destroying the career" of one of the mathematicians, and the request that one of the authors disavow *the other individual he was working with for the last 1-2 years* so he could claim the Clay prize as part of OpenAI.

It doesn't surprise me that OpenAI's team were surprised he'd turn it down; it shows that they just assume everyone else is as slimy as they are.

denverllc··on On the Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize Problem
In a way, I think you have it backwards.

Two mathematicians, through insight and thought, wrote out the proof over 1-2 years.

It took OpenAI a cost of $15m and with 10,000 subagents; that's around 60-120 mathematician's salaries ($250k-125k salary) for 1 year.

And, given now the cloud that OpenAI may have just "interpolated" (aka stole) the result, it's even more of a bear case for AI.

denverllc··on Navier-Stokes – Tristan Buckmaster [pdf]
The only problem with this narrative is that they refused to allow the other coauthor to be listed because he worked at Anthropic.

That is absolutely *ridiculous* in academia to deny authorship because of affiliation of the author worked on a substantial portion. You’d be ostracized because nobody would ever want to work with you again.

denverllc··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
My theory is that they’re pretending it’s about biological weapons but really they want to charge pharmaceutical companies $$$ to help with research. (Essentially a Mythos type segmentation for biology)
denverllc··on Fable and the end of the free lunch

denverllc··on On AI regulation and messaging
Revenue is not profit, their competitors are catching up, and they have a lot of debt.
denverllc··on How Claude marks AI-generated content
I’ve always wondered how this works when we only observe the final output and not the internal state that’s used to generate the output.

The LLM presumably generates f(input, RNG) but we only can observe f(RNG).
