For the most part right? I thought the argument myth #6, what you know matters more than who you know, was made pretty well. And we haven't really seen much of such advice. Usually a lot of us here, myself included, dislike the notion of networking bluntly for such purpose alone, but it certainly can be helpful in the long run.

derekc··on Is Boston The Next Hot City For Entrepreneurs?
What's as equally important to note is the young brain power in the area. Over 400k students in the city and its surrounding areas. Higher-education institutions like Harvard, M.I.T, Tufts, BC, BU, to name a few.

You can also find cheap places to live in many parts of Boston. Lower cost of living in Boston than say, in NYC.

If you really do need to get to NYC, you can vie for a train ride there (~200 miles).

derekc··on Ask HN: What do you think of co-working spaces?
How much is it per month? The website doesn't really state the prices and I'm also assuming it's selective in which startup/project it lets in.
derekc··on 6 Web App Ideas Off My Chest
I like the comment aggregator idea. Thought of it some time ago as well; it'd be really neat.
derekc··on Did Google Just Quietly Launch A Web-Based iTunes Competitor? Yep.

derekc··on How Group Dynamics May Be Killing Innovation
Key point of the article: Brainstorm on your own first, then collaborate/share your ideas with others in a group. Don't ever do the latter first.
derekc··on What Diaspora Should Do with their Newfound Fuckyoufacebook Money
Should be #1 on that list.
derekc··on [dead]
You do have a point, and I actually agree with you :). I just found this article too hilarious to not post it.
