devfatigue··on Apple, Mozilla, Google, Microsoft form group to standardize browser plug-ins
Chrome standard is good enough and the other browsers that aren't chromium based should suck it up and implement their spec.

Next if you didn't code it in vanilla js, you probably shouldn't use on your daily driver browser because of the massive security risk.

devfatigue··on Citizen’s dangerous effort to cash in on vigilantism
Anyone else think we should jail the entire company in the name of public safety? We have officers who actually work for the government running roughshod over individuals why would we allow corporations to do this?
devfatigue··on 1991: Trade Wars 2002
It talked about combat not being real-time and it was turn based but it could be multi-player. It had text pretend radio channels, corporations and you could be online at the same time hunting or being hunted by other players. You could track people back to their bases with limpet mines and use fighter destruction reports to find occupied space. It was glorious and I used it to measure ever game I played after. BRE, SRE, Food fight, LORD and MajorMud are other favorites.
devfatigue··on Dubai Launches Its Own Cryptocurrency, Set to Become the City's Digital Currency
Any reason counties need Blockchain for digital coins and don't rely on a central set of trusted servers? I could be wildly misunderstanding the issue, but isn't a point for coins to be independent of a nation?
devfatigue··on YouTube Will Monetize Videos Without Paying Content Creators
Library of Congress should make a free platform that serves the same role. It is one of the duties of congress.
devfatigue··on Ask HN: What kind of chair are you using for WFH?
If you have an Amazon return warehouse or people that buy pallets, they often have gamer chairs, office chairs and some nice ergonomic ones. Some places have the already assembled. Deep discounts, nice and it doesn't require waiting on Prime. If you don't have that option try a foam wedge, also cheap and will work with many existing chairs.
devfatigue··on Complexities of e-mail validation logic
What if we flipped email validation around and made the users email a one time code to validate their email?
devfatigue··on Cloudflare stops offering to block LGBTQ webpages
I worked for a draconian company that blocked pretty much everything. Even github got banned and special request to be made monthly to reopen it. They had regular banners on their front page lauding LGBTQ interests, but I still think they will be sad that they won't be able to block this category.
devfatigue··on Woke at Work: Why tech firms are trying to run away from politics and failing
I don't want a work "family". I don't want to be on camera or see coworkers on camera. It is a trope now but http://www.phrack.org/issues/7/3.html
devfatigue··on PHP 3.0 Final is out (1998)
Bah! All I need is some perl and a CGI script to sail her by. Kidding, with the current web development churn I sometimes miss the simplicity of php.
