dfeusse··on Ask HN: Is requiring a demo the best tactic to prevent hackers from registering?
A malicious user could be a big threat to our business. Right now, we are in beta and manually verify every user. My guess is the same; we'd see a major drop-off after a demo. We've been thinking about requiring a demo, re-captcha, requiring a phone number, requiring a credit card - and are debating the method that's most effective that would lead to the least amount of drop-off.

MagicBell (YC W21) | Founding Backend Engineer, Founding Product Designer | Remote | https://magicbell.com

MagicBell is the notification inbox for web & mobile apps. Building a notification system is hard - there are multiple APIs to learn and a ton of work in nailing down the UI and UX of the inbox. We take care of all that and enable our customers to launch in an hour, not months. If you enjoy working on APIs and UI components that millions of developers would use, we’d love to chat. We are funded by Y Combinator (W21), post-revenue, and fully remote. We pay well and offer stock options with a 10-year exercise window (details in the job posts). We care a lot about diversity - three out of the five people team are women.

Founding Backend Engineer - Ruby on Rails, Rspec - https://www.magicbell.com/careers/Founding-Backend-Engineer-...

Founding Product Designer UX/UI, Figma - https://www.magicbell.com/careers/Founding-Product-Designer-...

Join a well-funded, YC, seed startup that’s growing exponentially, fast approaching a Series A!
