dividedcomet··on Mitos editor is a fork of Helix
Been working on a similar idea of an in-terminal IDE with more and more batteries included

https://github.com/paradise-runner/toast

dividedcomet··on Personal Agent Protocol
As a human directing my personal agent, why does it need a protocol? It has that with the websites and APIs businesses expose. This is just an attempt to assert power by those with market influence because they don’t like that the personal agent doesn’t get them any ad money
dividedcomet··on Improper redaction reveals Google Data Center water and electricity usage
Except you can, you know, sustain human life off of farm land. You can’t do that from a data center.
dividedcomet··on Unknown number of Texas voter registrations went unprocessed due to DPS error
Which doesn’t happen all that often and the government is probably aware of who is a citizen and who isn’t.
dividedcomet··on Show HN: Hacking a $20 4G wireless hotspot into a texting device
This is the coolest dang project
dividedcomet··on Show HN: Toast, a beautiful by default in terminal IDE
the point of the GUI is that folks can intuit how a program works without having to be versed in how it works.
dividedcomet··on Show HN: Toast, a beautiful by default in terminal IDE
For me it’s that why do I need another application open? I have my coding agents in the terminal, I should also be able to traverse and read a codebase in the terminal as well
dividedcomet··on Show HN: Toast, a beautiful by default in terminal IDE
Throw an issue up there and I can try to take a whack at it!
dividedcomet··on Show HN: Toast, a beautiful by default in terminal IDE
For sure the right call, really appreciate it. Judging from the comments my lack of product and marketing skills is showing.
dividedcomet··on Show HN: Toast, a beautiful by default in terminal IDE
That’s just the theme matching the terminal, there are two others out of the box but I prefer the system theme. And by beautiful I mean it has a cohesive system design and theming. I prefer to to another VsCode clone
dividedcomet··on Show HN: Toast, a beautiful by default in terminal IDE
Thanks so much! Only reason this got posted today is because everyone is home sick
dividedcomet··on Show HN: Toast, a beautiful by default in terminal IDE
Poor wording, more so meant that when I drop into vim, vi, or emacs I have no way to (without some external knowledge) know how to open a file tree. Just a barrier to usage is all.
dividedcomet··on Show HN: Toast, a beautiful by default in terminal IDE
Yeah maybe not the best wording. It’s more meant that ideally toast can be fully used with a cursor for interactions. I don’t think you can exit vim or emacs just by clicking on a button?
dividedcomet··on Show HN: Toast, a by default in-terminal IDE
Yep, I have 2 kids under 1 so this project is either built with AI or it’s not built. I put that line in because the IDE aspect doesn’t need agent management or anything. Other tools are better for that.
dividedcomet··on Show HN: Toast, a beautiful by default in terminal IDE
I mean yeah, I have 2 kids under 1. So I wasn’t gonna spend the 100+ hours doing it all by hand. The project either gets made using AI or not at all.
dividedcomet··on Show HN: Toast, a beautiful by default in terminal IDE
there are other themes, the one shown is just extending my terminal theme so it doesn’t feel out of place.
dividedcomet··on Fuji: A minimal harness to deploy agents at scale
I’ve been experimenting with agents a lot and have begun to think that Pi is going in the direction that a users TUI goes. If I wanted to deploy 500 agents on a single machine with minimal memory, pi wouldn’t do it. Right now I’ve confirmed it works with open router and have started piping all my tokens through it and wondering what it would be like to sit atop it.
dividedcomet··on Ass Kicking Clause
Yes! At one point he runs out and he chases Dale and another I think he kick’s Buckley? Not sure.

Yeah, but it’s at least a promise more than most others. At some point you have to put faith in people and put your name and ass on the line.

dividedcomet··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (August 2026)
My own IDE!

https://github.com/paradise-runner/toast

It has all the parts I want (lsps, syntax highlighting, a file tree) without the parts I don’t (a bundled terminal, tracking, ai)

dividedcomet··on The Era of (Good) Personal Software Has Arrived
I don’t think so either. I’d equate it more towards writing a novel now. Technically anyone can do it with a computer and some time, but you need folks to be interested. A lot of people aren’t interested or opinionated about their software. And that’s fine!
dividedcomet··on Zed DeltaDB
I’m building an in-terminal IDE over at https://github.com/paradise-runner/toast that does this. No AI, no telemetry, just a text editor that has it all baked in and is easy on the eyes.
dividedcomet··on Toast IDE Launches Standalone Alpha Mac App
I thought this would be a fun experimentation to take libghostty and use it to bundle toast as a standalone app. This isn't the main way I figure folks will use toast (if any ever do), but it serves as an interesting way a TUI can now serve as a UI for a fully shipped app.
dividedcomet··on What's the largest software project AI can complete on its own?
I’m making an in-terminal IDE over at https://github.com/paradise-runner/toast and deep seek flash has been doing a wonderful job since the last weights release. Makes me think we’re past expensive AI to do general engineering work.
dividedcomet··on Toast IDE Gets Markdown Spell Checking
Maybe the implementation or the program that is adding it in? Or maybe the grammar freaks are out in force ;)
dividedcomet··on Toast IDE Gets Markdown Spell Checking
I’d wager that it’s more about the use of the LSP and general interest in the project? You’re right that it is table stakes for a lot of editors and I’m probably behind in adding it in mine. But now it’s there and I hope it indicates if folks want to use the editor and want features added that the project is active and adding features on a decent cadence (for a new dad of 2 lol)

edit: also I’m just posting it because I think it’s a meaningful improvement. I don’t think I’ve said that it’s now ready to replace vscode or vim now

dividedcomet··on Toast IDE Gets Markdown Spell Checking
I’ve displayed it on ShowHN but it didn’t get much traction, so I’m just posting the iterative updates as I add what I think are meaningful features. It is a hobby project! But I personally use it at work every day and have uninstalled my main IDEs to try and figure out pain points.

edit: I’m elated by the laugh! Little whimsy in software never hurt anyone

dividedcomet··on Ask HN: Anyone else tired of brands discontinuing your favorite everyday items?
Mmm that is a good move. I got an Italian leather bag in Florence and it’s doing what you say, though there is some machine part. I’ve got a trip to Japan in the hopper that I’ll make this a priority for
dividedcomet··on Ask HN: My domain registrar (Hover) rug-pulled me for $3000
As others said I think a chargeback is the way to go. I had a much smaller scale version of this happen where hover wanted to change $70 to renew a domain that Cloudflare would charge $30 for
dividedcomet··on Ask HN: Anyone else tired of brands discontinuing your favorite everyday items?
I’ve had this happen with the clothes I get from Patagonia. What was only a few years ago a thick plaid button down is now thin and not nearly as warm. And Patagonia still makes good stuff! But I do wonder if it’s time to start shopping around again.
dividedcomet··on After five failed products, this founder quit his job and hit $7.5k/mo
I guess he’s proud of ruining a human-to-human platform? Alright?
