dmead··on Show HN: To Honor Sir Patrick Stewart, Enjoy the TNG Episode Guessing Game
It's literally the best episode. The fact he hooked up with Marta given a second chance fits entirely with the story.

This is great. I have a weird system layout (192gb system ram, 8gb vram). the mixture of experts models have been nice when i can run the dense reasoning layers on the gpu (which somehow fit?!) and then the expert on the cpu.

its worked out to to 40 tokens/seconds on their 80b-a3b model. we'll see how much of a hit this is.

It depends on sampling and sky conditions. My only point was that some astronomy cameras have smaller pixels (like 1.45um).
dmead··on OpenScan
Cannon pixels are still pretty big. You could use an astronomy camera and some lens adapters to get better sampling.
dmead··on Hackable personal news reader in bash pipes
I had a design sketched out that would do sentiment analysis on each post in your social media feeds. It would then take action to hide or outright delete stuff based on your configuration.

It would probably work as a browser plugin, but I didn't have a real solution for rewriting whats on say the reddit or Twitter phone apps.

Probably pretty easy to vibe code up such a thing now.

dmead··on Bazzite: Operating System for Linux gaming
True. I think i'm done after windows 10 really runs into the ground. I have a nuc that runs windows 11 and it's kind of a shitshow.
dmead··on Bazzite: Operating System for Linux gaming
Ah sorry, it was lutris (the name escaped me). I've done all the combinations of wine and wrappers to wine. All of them have a sort of unstable relationship with the calling environment. alt-tabbing out of games never works, there are freezes and game crashes when you try to switch in and out of games a fluidly as you can on windows.

I believe you that steamos is better, but it's also a single task environment where you're not checking your email between rounds of halo.

I'll give proton a try, though i believe that was in play when i was laddering with lutris.
