It explains a lot of the bio mechanics involved in running and why humans are so superior.

I highly suggest reading the book itself - it's quite an eye opener.
Humans don't suffer from this limitation. If you're curious I suggest you read Born To Run

Of course it is. Evidence you get from research which get funded by sparking peoples interest...which can be helped a long way by marketing. But I'll give you that the title was kind of linkbait-y (and funny)
"Not when people are being asked to invest their money, no. When that's going on, I get dead serious."
I assume people would actually read the project description before giving their money away.
I am the originator...and I didn't change anything
The original intriguing and funny title "You can now kickstart a space elevator" or this lame ass boring "Space elevator science"?
Which of the two could get more people potentially interested in science?
You guys are just not about the fun are you?
BTW: Who edited the title?
I did Astanga yoga (also refered to as power yoga) for many years. Such a class would consist of some 10 - 20 students and 1 - 2 instructors. In this form of yoga at no time do you close you eyes (expect for the final relaxation time).
Contrary to what you might think this particular form of yoga is very very psychically hard. Although you move slowly you are never still in a relaxed position. You move a lot of small muscles and carry your own weight for 1.5 - 2 hours.
The concentration needed takes all your focus until you know the series of movement of the back of your hand. For me this took about a year. After this I would occasionally slip into a kind of mindlessness. I would "come back" and be conscience about this mindlessness at some point near the end of the session. It very much felt like 1.5 hours had passed in an instance. I would not be able to recall any detail or anything the instructors have said and I would feel immensely relaxed and full of energy. It was a great sensation.
I suspect this has something to do with how you breath during yoga. It kind of resembles the way you breath when you are deep at sleep. It takes a long time to learn and I have a feeling that the breathing is actually the most important part of yoga.
Besides swimming this is by far the best workout I have ever done. Being a programmer it does wonders for a body which spends most of the time sitting down in an office chair. If you get the chance I recommend that you try it out. You will be very surprised how hard it is - and how rewarding it is.
No. The point was that it is much more than what you call the content.
Math and Applied Math is more than numbers and math for the sake of math. It is a way to bring your level of abstract thinking higher - much the same way learning languages does.
Math is so much more than algebra and calculus. It will teach you pattern recognition and deduction - two highly sought after skills in engineering - but can be applied to any profession.
If anything I believe we should bump up the level of math that high school children learn.
I'd actually come to enjoy spending most of the day doing my finances, answering emails, cleaning out the inbox etc. All in a relaxed manner - and the weekend then takes of with a good conscience.
I highly recommend it.
I for one think he has a point and if you don't please come up with something better than name calling.
I am currently trying to figure out a more clever way to deploy my code. I would love if you would share some thoughts on some general strategy and possible tools. I am using jenkins and git.
2. I could do that but I'm trying to learn how to do it properly...as in I imagine there would be a better way for this. When the DB (hopefully )grows to a considerable size then I take it this approach is not feasible.
The project is ongoing and I lost track of the hours many years ago. 5K users! Ha - I wish :) I was thinking about my general project setup which is described in the initial question...I'm just wondering whether there would not be a more structure way to solve this problem.
1) I can't just pull from git. The repo contains files which should not be on the production server
2) I'm using postgres - not mysql. How do you incrementally change schemas? How do you roll back in case of failure without data loss?
Once you venture outside work and start to socialize you will eventually want to speak German as it is much more fun to be able to understand everything.
Further German actually have roughly 35% more words than English. Because of this and the way it is grammatically structured a lot of fine detail is often lost in translation as the words simply do not exist in English.
You can found any type of company in Germany without having citizenship. But you will most definitely need an English speaking accountant. The forms/paperwork are only available in German and there is quite a long way from school German to understanding a discussion with the German tax authorities.
Be careful in choosing an English speaking accountant as the quality of their English abilities varies greatly. As with so many other things you get what you pay for.
The German tax authorities are generally welcoming and pleasant but you better have your papers in order and filled out correctly. Also expect to spend a considerable amount of time at the local registry. The lines are long and employees few.
If you come from outside of the EU you will probably have a more difficult time.
That being said it is not at all impossible. Berlin is a great city and lots of happenings related to start ups and development in generally takes place all the time. The German authorities realizes the value of foreigners starting companies and the have a really excellent website in English here

Is there a term for this perception?
2. Once you have done a booking search many companies store this information in a cookie (or otherwise) to prevent you from seeing cheaper prices on subsequent searches. Try deleting your cookies next time...it usually works for me. Also I never log in to my account until I know exactly what I want.
I does require some odd head movement once in a while though
Never ever present your product from talking nagative about something or someone else. The only thing this kind of presentation makes me think is "Gee - didn't they have anything good to say about their product?"
As I see it this is what is going on when your users use a webapp.
The user runs some client code which you wrote. In a browser which other guys wrote. Running on an OS made by some one. Sending data back and forth via protocols and network equipment with software that other people wrote.
You server OS receives the request and passes it to your load balancer which distributes to Apache which forwards to PHP which routes to SQL...and all the way back.
With the millions and billions of lines of code involved in these steps it could likely be a number of this magnitude.
Actually it's a wonder that it works...
