dongsheng··on A CEO's Guide to Emacs (2015)
same issue here, spacemacs is a very nice package but I just have no idea how to fix it when ran into bugs, I started to build my own .emacs.d since last month.
dongsheng··on Never buy Epson printers
I would recommend Brother too, HL-2135W, very solid product.

dongsheng··on iPhone 4S Pre-Orders Top One Million in First 24 Hours
You mean not fair to iPhone 4 right?
dongsheng··on iPhone 4S Pre-Orders Top One Million in First 24 Hours
> But 'regular' people are loving the Galaxy S 2

Did Galaxy S2 break iPhone 4's sale record?

dongsheng··on iPhone 4S Pre-Orders Top One Million in First 24 Hours
Do you know half of iPhone users never connect to computer once activated, that means iPhone works totally fine without iTunes for ordinary people. Not to mention iOS5 now support wifi sync and iCloud backup. You may don't care camera, but one of my friend have 12G pictures and videos on iPod touch, it's crucial to users.

Ordinary people don't need Linux connectivity, file copying, emulators, they need a Phone which just works.

dongsheng··on Dart language
Looks like an extended javascript with strong typing and more OO support, is it designed to replace javascript?
dongsheng··on Upgrade to iOS 5 Right Now
The features I love most in iOS5:

- Multitasking gestures on iPad - New notification view and widgets (only weather and stock at the moment) - Wireless syncing

dongsheng··on Overview of Text Editors for Programming on the Mac
> GEdit: Used this all the time in Linux and was surprised to find it runs fine out of the box on the Mac! Great for reading extra large files like long logs etc.

Does Gedit for require X11?

dongsheng··on Overview of Text Editors for Programming on the Mac
Seriously, if you want value of money, learn vim or emacs, they kick any $60 worth editors.
dongsheng··on Markdown Editor for web developers, on Mac OS X
That's what I was wondering, donating or buying it eventually, will be good to write a note on donation, so people like me know what will be happening :)
dongsheng··on Markdown Editor for web developers, on Mac OS X
Very nice, love the color scheme and content preview. Will it be free once off beta?
dongsheng··on Notify.me closing shop - Oct 4th
I have been using notify.me for year, it notifies me new hackernews items, what a pity to say farewell to it...
dongsheng··on A review of all available Hacker News iPad Apps
Try news:yc it's not free, but open source, you can compile it then put it on your phone
dongsheng··on Tizen: Open source Intel/Linux Foundation-backed mobile/device OS
It's interesting to see Samsung in the dev team, does that mean Bada will be joining the new OS?
dongsheng··on A New Flavor... Still Delicious
http://del.icio.us still exists too, it's my preferred one.
dongsheng··on A New Flavor... Still Delicious
It was the popular links, now, the first tab became popular stacks...

It looks like a simplified delicious.com, a lot of features haven't been implemented. We probably should give them a bit more time.

One thing I hated most is the spaces between entries and spaces between blocks, it makes the page really fat.

dongsheng··on A New Flavor... Still Delicious
Plus the massive user base.
dongsheng··on A New Flavor... Still Delicious
They removed plenty inactive users, I got my fav username back :D and Yahoo ID has gone +1, that thing barely worked.
dongsheng··on IOS Boilerplate: A base template for iOS apps
Big thanks for reminding me, I just found this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6308425/ios-5-best-practi...
dongsheng··on IOS Boilerplate: A base template for iOS apps
I am writing an app using the new compiler with ARC enabled, I am glad no more release and autorelease in my code, but some big third party libraries not working under ARC, it costs me more time on re-creating features :-(
dongsheng··on Joel Spolsky Launches Trello - Organize Anything Together
Looks similar to Jira's GreenHopper (http://www.atlassian.com/software/greenhopper/), each tracker issue is one card, and you can see what's in progress, todos and what has been done.
dongsheng··on Why Your Business Needs a Chinese Name
Yep, just a joke people made to laugh at the pronunciation of Debian is the same as "big poo" in chinese, but we love Debian of course ;)
dongsheng··on Why Your Business Needs a Chinese Name
> Various distros have official Chinese translations.

  Debian -> 大便
  Ubuntu -> 俺不土
  Gentoo -> 真土
dongsheng··on Why Your Business Needs a Chinese Name
Besides the business names, I am surprised to see all major operation systems don't have proper translations in chinese, including Microsoft windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It's hard to market these products to elder people.
dongsheng··on Newly Discovered Planet: Hot, Muggy And (May Be) Livable
Does that mean it's possible to have living creatures on that planet? Looks like a prefect environment to grow bacteria.
